Ms. Winfery Goodman

GOODMAN, Mrs. Winfery - Age 82, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2020 at her residence. Ms. Goodman will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, November 13, 2020 at Flint Memorial Park, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Mrs. Winfery Goodman was born August 10, 1938 the daughter of the late Reverend John G. and Bertha Goodman. Winfery made her transition from this life on Sunday, November 8, 2020. She accepted Christ at an early age. Winfery was baptized and nurtured in the Baptist faith at Queen Ester Baptist Church under the direction of Pastor Joseph Smith in Benton, Louisiana. She moved to Flint, Michigan in 1957 and united with Golden Leaf MBC. Later she would unite with St. Luke MBC, under the leadership of the late Rev. John G. Goodman, the late Rev. Bennie Goodman and Pastor Orlando Goodman. Winfery was very dedicated to her church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the Senior Choir. Winfery was also a member of the Urban League of Flint and the National Council of Senior Citizens. Winfery Goodman graduated from Charlotte Mitchell High School in Benton, LA. She later attended Southern University. Once she arrived in Michigan, she continued her education at Mott Community College and Western Michigan University. God blessed her with employment at Buick Motor Company, a Division of General Motors Corporation and she retired in 1993 as an active member of UAW Local 599. Winfery enjoyed cooking, shopping and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling abroad to many different countries. She had a love for strawberry ice cream and her favorite quote was “Let’s Stay Friends”. Mrs. Winfery Goodman leaves to cherish her memory: 2 brothers, Johnny Goodman and Robert (Mary Ann) Goodman; nieces that she raised and loved so dearly, Betty Ann Goodman, and her 2 daughters, Emerald and Diamond; a host of extended family, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including; special nieces, Tonya Butler; and great niece, Keisha August who took care of her until God called her home. Winfery was preceded in death by: her parents, Rev. John G. and Bertha Goodman; grandparents; 4 sisters, Mattie Davis, Gussie August, Della Little and Bettie Goodman; 2 brothers, Rev. Ben Goodman and Booker Goodman; special niece, Doris Goodman; nephew, Leonard Goodman; 2 sisters-in-law, Etta Goodman and Geraldine Goodman; 2 brothers-in-law, Cecil Little and James Davis. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Orlando Goodman and the St. Luke MBC family.
