WILLIAMS, Mr. Willie Rogers "Billy", age 73, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Genesys Health Park, Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2 p.m. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Williams will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday, with family present from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Mr. Willie “Billy” Rogers Williams was born June 5, 1939, the son of Willie Rogers and Mary Williams. “Billy” was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. He attended Flint Public Schools and Detroit Barber College. “Billy” was one of the best Barbers in Flint working at Friley Barber Shop on St. John Street. He was employed at Chevrolet Manufacturing, a division of General Motors. “Billy” loved cutting hair, going fishing, boating and family vacations. He also liked shooting pool, playing card games, chess, dancing and shooting dice. “Billy” enjoyed getting sharp and going to the bars back in the day. Most of all, “Billy” loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He leaves too cherish his loving memory: wife of 54 years, Shirley Williams of Flint; only daughter, LaShawn Marie; 7 grandchildren, NeKeshia Williams, Jo-Na’ Williams, Rephael Williams-Caldwell, Dior Williams-Brown, Sharod Banks, Wanita Carter and Tony Williams Johnson; 8 great-grandchildren, Jaylyn Williams-Boone, Janiya Carter, Amiyah Johnson, De’Aja Russell, Brooke Johnson, Gabriel Banks, Eric Thompson Jr. and Kashiyah Peterson; special cousins, Diane Martin, Douglas McGruder, James Parker, Johnny Williams, Camille Gillard, Mancine Broome and Will Levy. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his mother; father; stepfather, Bill Levy; grandparents, Mance and Eugene (King) Williams; several aunts; 3 special uncles, John Henry, Doug and “Pops”; cousins; mother-in-law, Edna Thomas; and brother-in-law, James Hodges. The family would like to express special thanks to their entire relatives and friends for all the kind expression of concern and heartfelt sympathy during their time of bereavement.
