BROWN, JR., Rev. William M. - Age 80, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015 at his residence. Family hour 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 317 E. Hamilton Ave., with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Dr. Mark Anthony Jones, Sr. officiating. Interment Sunset Hill Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Brown Jr. will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday. Rev. William Milton Brown, Jr. (Willie), 80 years old, of Flint, Michigan, made his transition on Friday, February 27, 2015, at his residence. Rev. Brown was born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 10, 1934 to William M. Brown, Sr. and Bertha Wherry-Brown. Rev. Brown’s family relocated to the Detroit, Michigan area where he attended and graduated from Northern High School. Rev. Brown loved to travel he jokingly bragged about having been in every State in the Union and out of the Country three times. He made an impact on the lives of people every where he went. He was a musician, an accomplished vocalist who received scholarships to sing opera. He sang with Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald and Jackie Wilson. He recorded background vocals and was lead vocalist on several recordings. Rev. Brown moved to California where he received his call to the ministry. When he moved back to Michigan he began his ministry under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Alfred L. Robbs of Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. In 1982, Rev. Brown organized Grace Missionary Baptist Church located at 418 W. White Street, Flint, Michigan; where he continued to pastor until his death. Rev. Brown was also an entrepreneur committed to serving the Flint community with his automotive collision trade. Rev. Brown established Brown’s Collision located at 618 Stockdale St, in 1989; where he positively impacted the lives of so many of his customers. He served as a Notary Public for the Flint community; a Crisis Chaplain for the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department and was extremely active in Security in Ministry especially at the annual picnic where people lined up at his food tent for a taste of his whole roasted pig. Rev. Brown left a legacy. Rev. Brown leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Evelyne, of 46 years; eight children, Terri (Thomas), Jerry (Nikkita), Milton Timothy (Louise), Michael, Tracie (Thomas), Charles (Carla), Wendy (Simon) and Milton Bruce; 30 grandchildren, Tiffany (Ken), Tommy, Dannon, Brandon, Toia, Stephanie, Courtney, Julian, Phillip, Marcus, Diette, Kimmie, Lauren, Solomon, Faith, Michael, Justin, Esther, Lydia, Raquel, Aaron, Sophia, Ann Marie, Tiffany, Olivia, Charles, Kaleb, Tyler, Nieko, Jonaya, Xidne, Simon, Trinity, and Niesja Sinclair. He was “grandpa” and “paw paw” to many other foster and godchildren; Five (6) great-grand children; Si’Coi, Ma’Khi, Jasper, Ja’Dyn, Ethan and Vontae’; brother, Harold Brown Sr., of Detroit, MI; daughter-in-law, Shawn Brown; son-in-law, Victor Keaton; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rev. Brown was also preceded in death by his 3 children, Sharon, Todd and Craig; parents, seven sisters; and two brothers. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Randall Strum, Dr. Brian Falk, Dr. Diane K. Trudell, Dr. James Chambers, and the Rehabilitation staff at McLaren-Flint for their continued care and professionalism during his extended illness.
