Mrs. Virginia Louise Deloney

DELONEY, Mrs. Virginia Louise - Age 69, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Church of Christ, G-2296 Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Brother John Southern officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw Street. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Deloney will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Virginia Louise Deloney was born November 11, 1946 in Dyersburg, Tennessee, the daughter of Pearline Mays and James Lyte. She attended and graduated from Bruce High School in Dyersburg, “Class of ‘65”. Virginia was a faithful servant of the Lord. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Christ, serving for many years, until her health failed. Virginia had a passion for working within the church, especially when she was with Mrs. Jenkins. She married James Deloney in 1966 and to this union they were blessed with 3 boys; James Jr., Andre and Torrey. Virginia was a favorite among the Beecher neighborhood children, as they called her the “Candy Lady”. She loved to laugh, joke and spend some of her free time bowling and playing penny Bingo. Mrs. Virginia Louise Deloney leaves to cherish her memory her husband, James Deloney, Sr.; 2 sons, James Jr. (Amy) and Torrey Deloney all of Flint; grandchildren, DeQuan and Andrea both of Memphis, TN, Eboney and James III, Chinntorria and Torrey, Jr. all of Flint, and Torrianna of NC; great-grandchildren, Dominique and Andre both of Memphis, TN; father, James (Josephine) Lyte; sister, Peggy Pace; nieces, Relinda Matthews, Doris Wade; nephew, Robert Pace Jr., all of Dyersburg, TN; cousins, Sabrina Clark, Clara Thornton, Alice Hillard, Cynthia Sheppard, Carolyn Mitchell, and Frankie Ganaway; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Virginia Louise Deloney was preceded in death by her son, Andre; mother, Pearline Mays; brother, Thomas “Muck” Mays. The family would like to express special thanks to Carpenter Rd. Church of Christ, Willowbrook Manor, Physical Therapist Courtney and many others.
