Viola Richmond

RICHMOND, Mrs. Viola - Age 93, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 in Kennewick, WA. Family hour 12Noon Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 317 E. Hamilton Ave., with Celebration of Life Service at 1PM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12Noon Tuesday. Mrs. Richmond will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Monday. On May 27, 2009, she began her most important journey. In the distance, a ship sailed to the limits of Kennewick, WA... As the ship drew closer, Viola Richmond looked back over this life of accomplishments and service to God, country and mankind she took leave of absence from those that she loved and accepted the reward of the master plan. The captain of the ship lowered the landing plank and beckoned his newest passenger on board. Without hesitation, Viola Richmond boarded the Ole Ship of Zion and set sail for the celestial shores of the Promised Land. She was a life long resident of Flint, MI., until her health started to decline and she moved to Pasco to be closer to her daughter, Melva Mitchell. She worked at Marion Hall as a cook and also Scott Community School Lunch program. Viola enjoyed going to Sunday school and was a faithful member of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church, Nurse Guild, and Mother Board. In her own words she makes this statement. “It was easy for me to be a devoted mother and grandmother to all six of my grand children." I loved children and got great pleasure in assisting in there development of doing what is right and realizing the importance of the spiritual side of life”. She leaves to cherish her memory: loving and devoted daughter, Melva (John) Mitchell; her daughter’s father and life long friend, Olden Richmond of Pasco, WA; grandchildren, Lelawyn Mitchell, Sr. of Portland, OR, Stephanie Green of Kennewick, WA, John L. (Debra) Mitchell Jr., Sheri Mitchell, all of Pasco, WA., Paul Jones and Patrick (Stacey) Jones, all of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Eboni K. Twitty, Tyler Twitty, Brooklynn (Jay) Mitchell Jefferson, Kristen Mitchell, all of Pasco, WA., Lelawyn Mitchell Jr. of Tallahassee, FL, Marche Mitchell of Columbus, OH, Zachary Mitchell of Vancouver, WA and Jalen Jones of Atlanta, GA; great-great-grandchildren, Jordin Rai Twitty, Isaiah A. Richie, Devin R. Twitty, all of Pasco, WA, Maliyah Twitty of Kennewick, WA; adopted daughter, Mrs. Evonne Tucker; a host of nieces, nephews and friends including very special friend, Mrs. Carpenter.
