TAYLOR, Mrs. Vera - Age 69, God called her home, Thursday, February 17, 2011 at her residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart, officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Taylor will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8p.m. Friday. Mrs. Vera Louise Taylor was born on September 26, 1941 in Sawyerville, Alabama to Earnestine and Frances Brownlowe. Vera was raised in West Virginia, where she received her education and graduated from Conley High School. She met and married Alfonso Taylor on August 12, 1959 and to this union 6 children were born, Alfonso, Albert Lee, Vera, Diane, Teresa and Melissa, whom preceded her in death. They later moved to Flint to raise their family where she resided in Flint until 1975 and later moved to Chicago, IL, where she started working in the Health Care Industry. On her days off, she enjoyed cooking, traveling and most of all getting in her car putting her blues on and visiting family and friends. At this time in her life she decided to give her life to the Lord. Vera was baptized and became a member of New Mount Calvary Church in Chicago, IL. She made a life for her and her family in Chicago for 35 years. Vera later returned back to Michigan in 2010. Mrs. Vera Louise Taylor leaves to cherish her memory: children, Alphonso (Sarah) Taylor, Jr., Albert Lee (Natalia) Taylor, Vera Taylor, all of Chicago, IL, Teresa Taylor-Brandon and Diane Taylor-Sawyer, both of Flint; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mattie Wooding of Franklin, TN, Annie Wooding of Flint, Brenda (Howard) Mack of Middletown, OH and Myanzie Clark of Franklin, OH; special sister, Mary Wilson of Flint; 2 brothers, George (Gertie) Wooding of Rochester, NH and Robert (Shirley) Wooding of Charleston, WV; sister-in-law, Carol Gore of Blacklick, OH; brother-in-law, Kelly Gresby of Bluefield, WV; a host of nieces, nephews and special friends, the Anderson family and Pat Wheeler. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa Taylor; mother, Earnestine Wooding; father, Francis Brownlowe; stepfather, George Wooding; sister, Susie “Babydot” Seymour; brother, Matthew “Sunny” Brownlowe; and a host of aunts and uncles. The family would like to express special thanks to Mario Sawyer, Christine and Toya Taylor.
