OWENS, Mr. Tony Lee - Age 71, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024 at Henry Ford-Genesys. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, November 9, 2024, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Apostle Robert Bizzle, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Owens will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed Friday, November 8, 2024 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Mr. Tony Lee Owens, the oldest of eight children was born September 2, 1953 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Willie Lee Sr. and Mamie Ruth Owens. Tony graduated from Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1972”. He was hired into General Motors in 1976 and worked there until he retired in 2006. On July 26, 1975, Tony married Vickie Owens and from this union they had four children Regina, Prentiss, Lance, and Shannon. Tony gave his life to the lord and was a faithful servant. Tony was known for his work ethic and unwavering commitment to his job. He took pride in providing for his family and ensuring their well being. Early on he showed interest in contractor work, working with his uncle as a concrete finisher, Shingler, a handyman with home repairs, car repairs and improvement. In 2006, Tony retired from General Motors Engine plant and spent most of his time helping with the grandkids. Mr. Tony Lee Owens leaves to cherish his memory: beloved wife of 49 years Vickie Owens; 3 children, Regina, Prentiss (Crystal), and Shannon (Cameron); 7 grandchildren, Ta’Riah, Janiah, Tony Jr, Svaja, Connor, Camri and Prentiss Jr.; mother, Mamie Ruth Owens; 2 brothers, Willie Owens Jr. and Rodney Blassingame Sr.; 2 sisters, Debra (Chester) and Oda Lisa; uncle, Elmore Tims; 3 sisters-in-law, Janice Miller, Kathleen (Robert) Browne and Sharon Owens; 4 brothers-in-law, Larry (Shirley) Henderson, Ricky Henderson, Harold Carter, and Michael Carter; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his grandparents, Murrie & Bonnie Thames, Lee & Lizzie Owens; father, Willie Lee Owens Sr; son, Tony Lance Owens Sr; brothers, Jimmy Owens Sr. and Christopher Owens; sisters, Theresa and Brenda Owens; aunts, Matilda Fields, and Earlean Tims; uncles, Jerry Owens, Mack Tims, Rudolph Thames, and Curldean Thames, Clifton Fields Sr; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Harris and Fonda Holbrook; brother-in-law, Eric Miller; nieces, Kristy Owens and Rhonda Brown; nephews, Brandon Tyler and Kenneth Owens; son-in-law, Marlon Wyatt.
