POUNDS, Mr. Tarrel LaVon - Age 30 passed away Tuesday April 4, 2017 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, April 22, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Kenneth Stewart, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Pounds will lii in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00 PM -8:00 PM Friday. Mr. Tarrel LaVon Pounds Sr. was born May 14, 1986, in Flint, MI the son of Angela and Vincent L. Pounds Sr., on his Dads 35th birthday. He learned to be a good dad, (not someone's father) from his Dad. Tarrel loved his children, Tarrel Jr., Trevone and his little princess Tahara very much, and was an excellent dad. He taught them by showing them, there is nothing beyond your reach, if you take the initiative. He believed you should pursue your dreams, and not just dream about them. Most of all, he showed them that a Dad, loves, supports and encourages his children to be the best, by setting himself as an example. Tarrel took his children to many different places, so they could have experiences together. He attended every school program and all parent teacher conferences. He invested most of his time on his children's education. He wanted them to see that knowledge is power and through it, all things are possible. Tarrel graduated from Flint Central High School and followed that up with attending Baker College, and later Mott College where he received a degree in Applied Science with a focus on HVAC (heating and cooling). He received a certificate in maintenance and repair of hospitals, laboratories and college sanitation machines, while also pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Business Management from Davenport University. “Big Rel” worked fro several companies, but his greatest love was working for himself. He formed a company called “Fix Right”, that allowed him to use the many skills that he had attained from his educational background and also work experience. He had recently completed his “Journeyman Ship” and waiting to receive his HVAC license from the State of Michigan. Mr. Tarrel LaVon Pounds Sr was a member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church and a lifetime member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. “Big Rel” loved Hip Hop music and was a member of a group known as “Ghetto Thugs”. He wrote some serious good music that made you think. Tarell always looked out for his mother and will always and forever be her baby, with much love. Mr. Tarrel LaVon Pounds leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Tahara Pounds; sons Trevone Pounds and Tarrel Pounds Jr.; mother, Angela Pounds; sister, Tannette Stewart of Rochester Twp.; 4 brothers, Tyrone Babbitt of Mt. Morris Twp., Vincent L. Pounds Jr. of Burton, Rocrickias Gibbs of Grand Blanc and special brother, Karim Gibbs of Flint; 2 nieces, Gabrielle Gibbs and Karmariya Koger; 7 nephews, Arthur and JaCourtney Harris, Aireyon Babbitt, Rocrickius Jr., Isaiah Gibbs, Vincent Pounds III, and Izek Pounds; 6 aunts, Dannette Itson of Killeen, TX, Mary Pounds of Flint Twp., Brenda Williams of Flint, Jacqueline Babbitt of Flint, MI, Janie Pounds of Flint and Ruth l. Jones of Flint; 2 uncles, Tommy Pounds of Flint and James W. Jones of Buchanan, MI; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Antoine Morris, Karim Gibbs, Markice Babbitt and “Ghetto Thugs” Mr. Pounds was preceded in death by his father, Vincent L. Pounds Sr.; niece, DeAngela Babbitt; grandparents, Beulah and James Pounds, Millie and Clifton Babbitt; aunts, Emily Holbrook, Shirley and JoAnn Babbitt; uncle, Jimmy Pounds; cousins, Terrance Itson, Sonya Babbitt and Dondrick Pounds.
