CROSSLIN, Ms. Susan Jane - Age 67, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, 930 E. Myrtle Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Herbert Miller II officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Ms. Crosslin will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. There will be no public viewing, however the family will be present Friday from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. to receive friends. Susan Jane Crosslin was born December 29, 1948 in Bremen, Georgia. The daughter of Mary Lee Alexander and Buford Merrill. Susan graduated Northwestern High School in 1966. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Northwood University, and her Master’s Degree from the University of Michigan-Flint. Susan’s first job was at Citizen’s Bank. She went on to make her career in Human Resources at General Motors’ Powertrain Division in Flint, Michigan, and later in Warren, Michigan as the Human Resource Manager for the Warren Powertrain plant. She retired in 2007 with thirty years of service. While Susan was at Flint Powertrain, she oversaw the student co-op program and had the opportunity to mentor students attending the General Motors Institute (GMI). After transferring to Warren, Susan was able to transform the Human Resources’ office and help the plant improve its handling of government investigations and employee relations. Susan joined Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle at the young age of ten. She lived just up the street from the church, and would leave home and walk to church on her own. She was later joined at the church by her mother and step-father. Susan was very active in church as a member of the choir during her entire membership, including the Blue Bells, Voices of Metropolitan, and most recently the Inspirational Voices. Susan loved to go shopping, talk on the phone, and spend time with family and friends. Susan had a very thoughtful, giving spirit, and always found a way to give her time and special gifts to family and friends. She will be most remembered by the love reflected in everything she did. Susan Jane Crosslin leaves to cherish her memory: son, Roshon Darrell Crosslin; mother, Mary Lee Flippen; sister, Trina (Rodney) Rochelle Mengesha-Brown of Clarkston, MI; niece, Marissa Elise Mengesha of Clarkston, MI; nephew, Troy Xavier Mengesha of Clarkston, MI; Aunt, Lizzie (Luther) Stokes of Flint, MI; cousins Billy (Glenda) Alexander, Brenda Alexander, and Stephanie Alexander of Flint, MI, and Steven (Tonya) Alexander of Warren, MI; god-daughter, Nicole Blassingame-Dent; special cousin Stacie Ellison; a host of other siblings, relatives and friends. Susan was preceded in death by her daughter, Temia Lechelle Crosslin; father, Buford Merrill; father of her son, Levester Crosslin; step-father, William Flippen. The family would like to recognize and thank Susan’s special friends, Betty (Charles) Hawkins, Nellie Johnson, Barbara Richmond, Diane Prince and Patricia Mayfield; the Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle Church family, Dr. Peddireddy, and those whose names are not mentioned, but whose faces have not slipped our minds nor the many acts of kindness.
