Mr. Simon Isom III

ISOM, Mr. Simon III "Buster" - Age 63, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at his residence. Family hour Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Willie C. Towner officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Isom will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12 noon-8 p.m. Monday. Mr. Simon “Buster” Isom III was born February 4, 1951 in Pikeville, KY, son of the late Verdie and Simon Isom, Jr. He was four years old when the family moved to Flint, MI. Buster graduated from Beecher High School on June 5, 1969 and attended Ferris State University. He met Daisy Butler in 1975, and they became lifelong companions. They were joined in holy matrimony on March 5, 2007. Buster was employed at General Motors and retired after 33 years of service. He loved spending time with his loving wife, taking long rides to the country, chauffeuring his grandkids, fishing, watching sports, and the casino. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving wife, Daisy Isom; uncle, William "Pops” Isom; 2 step-daughters, Adrenal (William ) Smith and Monica Butler, both of Mt. Morris, MI; 5 step-sons, Wayne Cooper of Savannah, GA, Don Cooper, James Chevelle Butler, Ernest Butler, and Elbert Butler III, all of Mt. Morris, MI; 24 step-grandchildren; 27 step-great-grandchildren; 5 brothers-in-law; 6 sisters-in-law; including special step-son Don C.; step-great-granddaughter, Miyonna “Tink”; favorite cousin, Steve Lambert; a host of family and friends, too many to name but never forgotten. Simon “Buster” Isom III was preceded in death by: his parents, Verdie and Simon Isom, Jr.; sister, Jean Walker; brother, Donald Isom; mother-in-law, Wilmotine Cooper; and step-grandson, LaVentez Phipps. The family would like to express heartfelt and sincere thanks to Hurley Medical Center, United Missionary Baptist Church family, and the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home staff.
