Shirley Peterson-Miller

MILLER, Mrs. Shirley Ann - Age 56, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2008. Family hour 10AM Friday, February 15, 2008 at Harris Memorial C.O.G.I.C., G-4317 Lippincott Blvd, with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Pastor Tony C. Richmond, officiating, Pastor Eric C. Bogan, Host Pastor. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Friday. Mrs. Peterson-Miller will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. Sister Shirley Ann Peterson Miller was born November 13, 1951 in Rison, Arkansas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David and Ollie Peterson. Shirley graduated from Flint Northern High School "Class of 1969". She later attended Hurley School of Nursing, where she received her certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Shirley was formally employed at Hurley Pharmacy. She retired from General Motors and worked various other jobs. Shirley was a member of Agape (God's Love) Church of God In Christ, where she recommitted her life to Christ December of 2007. Shirley was a humanitarian and worked with Building Strong Women. She helped with Adopt The Children Feeding Hungry Children in Need and was also a dedicated sponsor for AA for many years. Shirley enjoyed spending time caring for her grandchildren and any other children she came in contact with. She also enjoyed going to church and praising the Lord. Shirley also enjoyed cleaning up where ever she went. She went home to be with the Lord on February 6, 2008. Mrs. Shirley Ann Peterson-Miller leaves in God's Care: parents, David and Ollie Peterson; 7 daughters, Raylanda (Desmond) Le'Gardye, Natoshia (Daniel) Arnold, Nakiia Miller, Rita (Eric) Jones, all of Flint, Richedia (Obadiah) Burnett of Cincinnati, OH, Daricka (Kenneth) Evans, of Oakland, CA, Rickael (Milton) Bell, of Pontiac, MI; 3 sons, Raheen Peterson, Tyreese (Donisha) Peterson and Jason Miller; 33 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, all of Flint; goddaughter, Linda Waters; 5 brothers, Gerome (Dawn) Peterson, Jimmie (Rosemary) Peterson, Horace Peterson, Harold (Debra) Peterson, Keith (Minerva) Peterson; 6 sisters, Bobbie (Charlie) Watkins, Priscilla Peterson, Jacqueline Peterson, Ericka (Benard) Brown of Flint, and Climenstine (Charles) Benton Cincinnati, OH; 1 brother-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends including special nieces, Lakeisha Durrett and Mohogany Brown; special nephew, Lawrence Durrett Jr.; special friends, Smith family, Brenda Hickmon, Carolyn Cobbins, and Verna Gowder B.K.A. Lavern and Shirley, all of Flint. Mrs. Peterson-Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Miller; sister, Fannie Bradley; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David and Ruthie Peterson Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Willy and Eva Wynn; aunts, Julia Wynn and Susie Terry; and uncles, Homer, Nehemiah, and Leroy Wynn.
