GILLIAM, Mrs. Shirley - Age 68, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Bishop Rosal McFadden, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 10:00 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Gilliam will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday. Sister Shirley (Wright) Gilliam was born June 28, 1955 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Mr. Delois and Mrs. Mildred (Marks) Wright. Sister Shirley was a resident of Flint, Michigan for 61 years. She attended Flint Public Schools. Sister Shirley received Christ at an early age. She was a member of Prayer Garden Church Of God In Christ (COGIC) for many years, under the leadership of the late. Dr. Purvis Givens and later Bishop Jerry L. Givens. She later became a member of Church of Trinity Pentecostal in Flint, under the leadership of Bishop Rosal McFadden until God called her home. Sister Shirley was a babysitter to a lot of children including her nieces, nephews, god-children and friends. She loved spending time reading her Bible, going to church, watching TV and spending time with family and friends. Sister Shirley Gilliam leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Harvey L. Gilliam Jr.; 3 sisters, Glory Riggs, Erma Polk and Cleola Wright-Griffis, all of Flint; brother, Ira Lee (Roslyn) Jones of Mobile, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; aunt, Beulah Meekins of Flint; uncle, Donald Bennett of Detroit, MI; a host of cousins including Gwendolyn Marks of Flint and Curtis Smith of Pine Bluff, AR; 2 sisters-in-law, Gloria (Milton) Cason of Flint, Karen (Cornelius) Guillory Jr.; brother-in-law, Willie Gilliam of Louisiana; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Evangelist Sarah Gray, Loretta Adams, Mrs. Christine (best friend), the Givens family. She was known and loved by many. Sister Gilliam was preceded in death by her parents, Delois and Mildred Wright; infant brother; step-mother, Pauline Williams; 2 step-fathers, John E. Walker and Bernal Johnson; 3 brothers; 4 brothers-in-law; 3 nieces; and 4 nephews. The family would like to express special thanks to Bishop Rosal McFadden and Church of Trinity Pentecostal family, Bishop Jerry Givens and Prayer Garden Church Of God In Christ family.
