GREENE, Ms. Sharisa Latrice - Age 29, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016 at U of M- Ann Arbor, MI. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Elder Patrick Sanders, Sr., Host Pastor, Pastor Alfred Harris, Sr. officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Ms. Greene will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 11:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. Friday, after which Ms. Greene will be taken to Saints of God Church, 2200 Forest Hill Ave., where there will be a public viewing from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Ms. Sharisa Latrice “Girly” Greene joined the heavenly choir on Thursday, February 25, 2016. She was born on November 30, 1986 to Gary and Brenda (Johnson) Greene, who loved and adored her. Sharisa grew up in Flint, Michigan with her devoted sister, Aisha Greene; honorary sister, Danora Lewis and honorary brother, Miracle Horne. She cherished her aunts, uncles and a host of cousins. Sharisa graduated from Flint Northern with honors and remained a proud class of 2004 Big Red Viking. She continued her education at Eastern Michigan University where she studied Elementary Education. She graduated in December 2009 with a bachelor degree. While at Eastern, Sharisa was a member of various teaching associations and a faithful member of the Eastern Michigan Gospel Choir where she enjoyed fellowshipping and singing for the ord. She recently began working on her Master’s Degree at Central Michigan University. Sharisa was destined for greatness. Sharisa was a gifted educator with a passion for teaching and watching children light up in the classroom. The last four years she worked at Starr Detroit Academy, where she taught 3rd grade and mentored fellow teachers. Her students were her inspiration and her love. Sharisa’s love for teaching and education was fostered by many of her teachers she encountered in the classroom. Sharisa was a child of God, vibrant, beautiful, brilliant and full of life and laughter. She had many talents and interests. Cooking and shopping were among her favorite things to do. Spending time with her friends and family especially her cousins, brought her the greatest joy. She loved organizing family gatherings. Her most recent pride and joy was taking 1st and 2nd place in the Greene family barbeque cook off. “Girly” as we affectionately called her, was our fashionista. She admired First Lady Michelle Obama for her grace and style and she embodied those same traits. More than anything else, Sharisa will be remembered as a kind, gentle soul who loved with her whole heart and was loved by all. She was a woman on God who took her Christian values to heart. Sharisa was a member of Saints of God Church in Flint and was also a member of the Youth Corral and mentor for The Kingdom Daughters. Ms. Sharisa Latrice “Girly” Greene leaves to cherish her memories her parents, Gary and Brenda Greene; sister, Aisha Greene; honorary sister, Danora Lewis; honorary brother, Miracle Horne all of Flint; god-sister, Mauricia Finney of Oak Creek, WI; grandmother, Geraldine Johnson of Flint; The Johnson family; the Greene family; including special friends Camille Harris, Suzette Lee, Kristal Taylor, Shardae James, Porshia Montgomery; special cousin, Danielle M. Greene and special Starr Detroit student, Terrell Thomas. Ms. Greene was preceded in death by her grandfather, Secreater Johnson; and grandparents, Johnie and Eliza Greene. The family extends a heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Alfred and First Lady Harris, Sr., Saints of God Church family, Hurley Medical Center, University of Michigan Hospital, Elder Patrick W. Sanders Sr. and the New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church family, Dawn Jones and Detroit Starr Academy.
