SALTER, Mrs. Shamonica E. - Age 42, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Five-Fold Ministry Christian Center, 8041 N. McKinley Rd., Flushing, MI with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Juanita Crump, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Salter will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Mrs. Shamonica E. Early-Salter departed this life on October 26, 2023, in Columbus, Georgia. She was born on August 11, 1981, in Flint, Michigan, the precious only daughter of Delores Early and Doyce Walton. Shamonica was a graduate of Powers Catholic High School in Flint. Later, she received an Associate Degree in Medical Assisting from Miller-Motte College in Columbus, Georgia. Shamonica held several jobs during her lifetime, including as a Certified Nursing Assistant for Home Instead Home Care and an assembly line worker at Mando Plant in Columbus, Georgia. Shamonica married Sergeant First Class Scott Timothy Salter in 2005. To this union was born their beloved son, Elijah Scott Salter in 2007. As a military spouse, Shamonica lived in Hawaii and Germany. The family moved to Columbus, GA when Scott was assigned to Ft. Moore (formerly Ft. Benning, GA). Shamonica was a fun-loving woman who enjoyed watching movies and dining out. An avid swimmer since her high school days, she continued to excel at the sport. She was a fierce “dog mom” who loved her pit bulls, She-She and Kilo. Those who knew her best adamantly agreed that her favorite hobbies of all were to shop, shop and shop. She also loved experimenting with hair and never wore the same style twice. She loved to write poetry and was very conscientious about working out and staying healthy. Most importantly of all, however, Shamonica was a compassionate “people person” who loved and cared for others. Shamonica leaves to carry on her legacy are her husband of eighteen years, Sergeant First Class Scott Salter; “her special gift” son, Elijah Salter; parents, Delores Early and Doyce Walton; four brothers, Brandon, Andy, Eric, and Jamal Walton; four uncles, James (Cherry) Early of Sumter, SC; Robert (Rita) Early of Savannah, GA; Angus (Vivian) Early of Charlotte, NC, and Timothy Early of Savannah, GA; one aunt, Cheryl (Marcus) Cook, of Savannah, GA: five special cousins, Detra Early Rogers of Richmond Hill, GA, Courtney Early of Atlanta, GA, Moriah Early of Savannah, GA, Marcus Cook, Jr. of Savannah, GA, and James “Jimmy” Early III of Stone Mountain, GA; and a host of other family and friends. Shamonica was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, James and Rosa Lee Early; great grandparents, Annie Mae White and William Angus Early.
