CRAWFORD, Mr. Scott J., Jr. - Age 50, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2010 at Second Chance Baptist Church, 1950 Burr Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m., Pastor Derrick Aldridge officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Friday. Mr. Crawford will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Scott J. Crawford, Jr. was born September 21, 1959 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Scott J. Crawford, Sr. and Katherine Crawford. Scott was a resident of Memphis TN, moving to Flint in 1966. He was baptized at an early age. Scott graduated from Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1977”. He met his wife, Karen in 1978, they were married 20 years later in 1998. Scott retired from Truck & Bus, a division of General Motor in 2008 after 30 years of service. He loved fishing, watching basketball and planting his garden. Scott would share his food from his garden with any and everyone who needed something from green tomatoes to his greens. He loved and cared for his children and grandchildren. Scott will be missed by everyone. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Karen Crawford of Flint; 3 daughters, Temisha (Travelle) Haynes, Tekisha and Latesha Kellum; 3 sons, Scott, Kareem and Jamal Kellum; grandchildren, Tyrelle, Tianna, Tierra, Triniti, all of Saginaw, MI, Remone, Daquan and Essence, all of Flint; 4 sisters, Barbara (Jimmy) Jones, Linda (Henry) Hills, Margaret Crawford, all of Flint and Teresa Crawford of Arizona; 3 brothers, James (Sandra) Crawford, David (Joan) Crawford and Arthur Crawford, all of Flint; 4 brothers-in-law, Halbert (Lillian), Roger (Gwen), Donald (Evelyn) and Kenneth Kellum, all of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles; cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Clyde ”Ace” Coleman, Lorenzo Wilkerson and Willie Armstrong. Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by his parents, Scott J. Crawford, Sr. and Katherine Crawford; grandparents; brother, Nathaniel Crawford; aunts and uncles; mother and father-in-law. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center, Pastor Derrick Aldridge and the Second Chance Baptist Church family and his neighbors.
