SCOTT, Mr. Samuel B., Jr. - Age 91, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at his residence. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2 p.m. Pastor Leon George officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Monday. Mr. Scott will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-6 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Samuel Bertrone Scott, Jr. was born August 12, 1919 in St. Joseph, Louisiana, the first child out of seven born to the late Reverend Samuel Bertrone Scott, Sr. and Clara Elijah Scott. Samuel was a member of the United States Army and served his country in WWII. After living in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Samuel relocated to Flint, Michigan. He worked at General Motors for 36 years, retiring in 1982. Samuel later worked as a security guard to stay busy. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his yard and looking at cars. Samuel was a compassionate, giving, and loving man, who gave to others unconditionally. He was a past member of Mason Prince Hall Affiliation, as well as a member of Fairhaven Seventh-Day Adventist Church. On August 13, 1960, Samuel was united in Holy Matrimony to Doris Downey Scott. To this union, Mark Alexander Scott I, was born March 12, 1955. Mr. Samuel B. Scott, Jr. is survived by: sisters, Beatrice Scott of Rosedale, NY and Katie Noble of Pine Bluff, AR; brother, Don (Doris) Downey Scott of Pine Bluff, AR; son, Mark (Jackie) Scott; Mark’s children, Terria (Adam) Kurtz, Mark (Rochelle) Scott, Tifini, Jalen and Taylor Scott; Mark’s grandchildren, Teylyn Neal Aniquiana and Ayrianna Kurtz; stepchildren, James (Theresa) Broden, Keisha Broden, Adavid Broden, Amnon Broden, Pia (Terrance) Broden Williams, Petrina Broden, Philipia Broden, Pilin (Patrick) Giddings, Matthias Broden, Miguel Broden, Kenyada Muhammad, NeGwena Wise, Maleka Broden, Antoine Broden, Hussani Broden, Jabari Broden, Jamaal (Brandy) Broden, Maia Broden, Stephanie Broden, Damien Samuels, Jeremiah Payne, Alicia Jordan; 19 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all those that extended their love and care during this time as well as the medical care of Samuel B. Scott.
