ELLISON, Mr. Roy - Age 93, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Laurel Heights Adult Foster Care Home in Flint Township. Family hour 11:30 AM Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at New Zion Baptist Church, 1604 Chippewa St., with funeral service commencing at 12 PM. Rev. Dr. Kim D. Yarber, Eulogist, Pastor Jacob Hawkins, Host Pastor. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 11:30 AM Wednesday. Mr. Ellison will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed 1PM-8PM Tuesday, with family present 5PM-8PM. Mr. Roy Ellison was born February 18, 1925 in Denmark, Tennessee, the son of Cleveland and Eliza Ellison. He married Dorris Comer in 1948, in Jackson, TN. Roy moved to Saginaw, MI and then Flint, Michigan where he resided over 65 years. He was a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Roy was a proud World War II Veteran, serving in the United States Army; and loved sharing his war stories. He worked for General Motors Corporation, retiring in 1992 after nearly 40 years of service. Roy loved sitting in his favorite chair, looking out the window, watching “The Price Is Right”, “Jeopardy” and “Wheel Of Fortune”. He also loved smacking on Tootsie Rolls. Roy was addicted to Kentucky Fried Chicken and Macaroni and Cheese. Mr. Roy Ellison leaves to cherish his memory: 4 daughters, Carolyn Alexander, Marilyn Cox, Pamela Whittington and Cynthia (Terry) Walls, all of Flint; 2 sons, Larnell Ellison of Mt. Morris, MI and Steven Ellison of Flint; grandchildren, Tanessa Cheatham of Grand Rapids, MI, Tyeisha Cox, Chiquita Whittington, Tiffany Whittington, Yvonne Whittington and Larnell Ross, all of Flint; 2 sisters, Lizzie Mae King of Saginaw, MI and Fannie (Harold) Thompson-Patrick; brother, Willie (Deirdre) Ellison, all of Denmark, TN; sister-in-law, Mildred (Ben) Easley of Jackson, TN; brother-in-law, Sammie (Edna) Comer of Nashville, TN; adopted family, Lemon, Sue Williams and Solomon; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Ellison was preceded in death by his wife, Dorris Ellison; daughter, Evelyn Ellison; grandson, Jermaine Ellison; parents, Cleveland and Eliza Ellison; 5 brothers; and one sister. The family would like to express special thanks to Laurel Heights staff, Hospice Medical Team, Hurley Medical Center 5th and 9th Floors, Mrs. Alveeta Murphy, Rev. Jacob Hawkins and the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church family, Rev. Dr. K.D. Yarber and the Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church family.
