SMITH, Mr. Rashawn - Age 18, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Eld. Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Tuesday. Mr. Smith will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Monday. Mr. Rashawn Darion Smith was born March 10, 1991 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Rashandra K. Smith and Kenneth Rogers. He attended Martin Elementary, Holmes Jr. High and Northern High School, where he participated in numerous sports. From a young age, Rashawn was interested in computers and loved to learn about the Bible. He was a member of Unity Church as a child and always participated in church plays and children’s groups. Rashawn claimed himself “Top Video Gamer of the World”, always up to challenge his cousins and friends. “Ray” hobbies included playing basketball, video games and drawing. He also loved listening to the artist, “Lil Boosie”. Mr. Rashawn Darion Smith leaves to cherish his memory: parents, Rashandra K. Smith and Kenneth Rogers; 2 brothers, Kenneth M. Rogers and Breion M.K. Gray; grandparents, Connie L. Smith, Jimmie Smith and Roy White; aunts, Stephanie Smith, Sharmee Brown, Teresa Beaty, Takia Gillespie, all of Flint, Cheryl Bartly of Killeen, TX, Venus White of Orlando, FL and Precios Ivy of Indianapolis, IN; uncles, William, Bobby, Sean, Eric Smith and Jareef Burke, all of Flint and Rickey Smith of Alabama; cousins, Marshateka, Cameo and Angel Smith, Shaneice Arnold, Nigel Stovall, Cameo Paschal, Tremayne Harden, Aisha and Daniel Gillespie, DeJuan Frank, Harmony and Honesty Warren, all of Flint, Rebbie Smith of Alabama and Taylor White of Orlando, FL; a host of other relatives and friends including, special friends, the O`Block Family, the Gillespie, Scroggins and Dayton Ave. families, Walter Trouser, “Uncle Nate”, Damyuis Williams and Eugene Robinson. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his special friends, Jamica Boone, Breion M. Gray, Doris Smith and Robert T. Smith.
