JONES, Master Quantavian Robert Chayce - Age 11, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Friday. Master Jones will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Thursday. Master Quantavian Robert Chayce Jones was born on July 6, 2002, to loving parents, Karena Mitchell and Abdul Jones in Flint, Michigan. His quiet demeanor and deep dimples brought smiles to all around him. Quantavian attended Freeman Elementary School where he demonstrated a strong passion for learning. His favorite subject was math, which was displayed whenever he created a math problem for his siblings to randomly solve. Quantavian was a part of Youth Quest after school program at Freeman where friends, food and fun were endless. He was the Co-Captain and Costume Designer for Freeman’s Odyssey of the Mind team, in which the team won Regional competitions for the past two years. Quantavian also attended the Flint Boys and Girls Club program with his siblings. Playing basketball, football, swimming and the Wii with his friends and siblings were a few of his favorite past times. Quantavian was an outstanding leader, hard-worker and loving child. His jokes and old-spirit like attitude were imprinted in the hearts and minds of all whom came in contact with him. Master Quantavian Jones leaves to cherish his memory: parents, Karena D. Mitchell and Abdul Jamal Jones; grandparents, Brenda Mitchell, Emma Jones and Johnny Shelton, all of Flint; sisters, Quanitria Zoe Mitchell of Flint and Diamond Jackson of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Xavier Caleb Mitchell of Flint, Dequareus Jones, Delano McNeal and Eyquan Cobb, all of Charlotte, NC; a host of aunts including Monica Shelton of Flint and Beyneska (Danny) Edwards of Port Wentworth, GA; great-aunt, Linda Pruitt of Flint; a host of uncles including Cedrick (Melanie) Shelton of Mills River, NC and Jonathan Shelton of Flint; a host of cousins including Mya Rose Matsco of Tennessee, Vanessa M. Shelton of Mills River, NC, Elijah Lee Everett Shelton of Flint, Daniya Edwards, Damauri Edwards and Danica Edwards, all of Fort Wentworth, GA. Master Jones was preceded in death by grandfathers, Clyde Clinton and Robert Lee Mitchell; aunt, Roselyn Jones; uncle, Raymond Jones; and cousin, Markeis Garrett Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Trauma Team, Flint Police, Stat EMS, Freeman Elementary School Staff, the Flint Board of Education, Doris Collins, John Rhodes, Ms. Kate formerly of Freeman Youth Quest, Dr. Leena Jinda, Dr. Chan DDS and West Carpenter Road Church of Christ.
