JENKINS, Mr. Preston - Age 74, passed away Monday, November 26, 2007 at Genesys Medical Center. Family hour 1:30PM Tuesday, December 4, 2007 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2PM. Pastor M.L. Albert officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Tuesday. Mr. Jenkins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 8AM until funeral service Tuesday. Mr. Preston Leonard Jenkins was born January 17, 1933 to the proud parentage of William and Rebecca (Faison) Jenkins in the historic city of Charleston, South Carolina. As a small child the family moved to New York City, and at the age of 8 years the family relocated to Chicago, IL where he grew up attending Seventh-day Adventist private schools. Upon graduating from High School he attended, and graduated from Pottstown, PA. College where he sang and played piano and organ in various groups. Preston was also an accomplished Concert Pianist performing Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Bach and Mozart. He attended Link-Belt School of Technology, Chicago Conservatory of Music, and he was a Veterinary Apprentice. Mr. Jenkins relocated to the Flint area in the early sixties where he was employed at Flint Truck and Bus and division of General Motors, UAW Local #598 for over 30 years. He was a very enterprising person, being an entrepreneur he owned and operated many businesses in the City of Flint. Some of his passions were rebuilding engines, transmissions, restoring cars, including vintage cars to show room condition. Preston embracing the Apostolic Faith in 1985, he received the Lord Jesus as his personal Saviour was baptized in Jesus' name. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Deliverance Church under the pastorate of M. L. Albert where he served on the Board of Directors and played the organ and blessed many with his well-controlled velvety voice. Mr. Preston Leonard Jenkins leaves to cherish his sweet memories; sons, daughters and care givers, Eliabeth Bell-Releford and Michael, Tierre (Jave?) Berger, Kesha (James) Williams, Jeff (Geraldine) Bell, Kieahsha Bell and Matt, Denise Mitchell, Charnetta, and Karen a host of grand-children; best friends, MacAuthur (Mouadee) Day, Jimmy Byrd, Mel Igram. Mr. Preston Leonard Jenkins was preceded in death by his wife Laura in 1969, and his parents, father in 1976 and mother in 1984. The family would like to thank Pastor M.L. Albert and the Mt. Sinai Deliverance Church Family, Genesys Health Park and it's doctors, Dr. Doan, Dr. Byasi, especially the awesome Dr. Vakharia and the nurses in the S.I.C.U.; Tiffany, Patti, Erin, and M.I.C.U. nurses, Chrystal, Chris, also to home health care nurses, Suanne Hall, Kathy Chapney, and Kathleen Visiting Physician, Dr. Diponio, Brenda and T.L.C. Health Care Facility.
