Mrs. Phyllis A. Wicker

WICKER, Mrs. Phyllis - Age 63, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at her residence. Family hour 11:30AM Monday, October 17, 2016 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2109 M.L. King Ave., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM Pastor Rodney Ellison officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends an pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:30 AM Monday. Mrs. Wicker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 3:00 PM-6:00 PM Sunday, with family present. Mrs. Phyllis Wicker was born April 6, 1953 in Washington, D. C., she was the daughter of Mrs. Jimmie Ernest. Later in life, Phyllis moved to Davison, Michigan and resided there for 20 years. She was a dedicated member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Phyllis was educated in the Flint Community Schools and was a graduate of Flint Northern High School “Class of 1971”. In 1972 she married Oliver Wicker, her high school sweetheart. They were wed at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Their marriage produced 3 beautiful children. Oliver and Phyllis also became a military family and traveled throughout world until 1996, when Oliver passed away. Phyllis worked in food service and she was also a caregiver. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning and doing yard work. Phyllis loved her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Phyllis Wicker leaves to cherish her sweet memories: daughter, Olivia Wicker (Stanley Gilbert) of Swartz Creek, MI; son, Darnell Wicker of Miami, FL; grandchildren, Sharena, Tyresha, Shante, Ericka, Brianna, Destiny, Oliver, Bernard, Isiah, Dominique and Deandre; great-grandchildren, Amir Johnson; sisters, Sharon Hudson (Tim Hatter) and Margie Ernest; brothers, William Ernest, Maurice (Koran) Ernest and Tony (Ruby) Ernest; aunts, Marie Humes, Sammie Tabron and Edna Jetter; uncle, James Martin; mother-in-law, Mrs. Ruby Wicker; sister-in-law, Cheryl Wicker; brothers-in-law, Curtis Wicker, DonnaRay Wicker, Clifton Wicker and Floyd Lavender; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friends: Druann Ernest, Cheryl Wicker, Eleanor Wicker, Arnold Cheatum, Tom and Kris Bohl, Sharon West, Deborah Simpkins and special niece, Sheilya Hudson. Mrs. Wicker was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Wicker; daughters, Lashon Wicker and Tina Chaney; mother, Jimmie Ernest; sister, Margaret Ernest; brother, Roosevelt (Jennifer) Ernest; cousins, Patricia and Philip Martin. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren Hospice Nurses and Nurse Aides and Pastor Ellison and the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Family.
