Mr. Ora McMurtrey

McMURTREY, Mr. Ora - Age 72, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015 at his residence. Family hour 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Reaching The World Ministries International, 6815 Verdun Street, with funeral service commencing at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Skeeter D. Holmes officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 a.m. Saturday.Mr. McMurtrey will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday. Mr. Ora “Bill” McMurtrey was born December 23, 1942 in Rison, Arkansas, the son of Ora Releford and Molinda Young. He was a resident of Mt. Morris, MI and was employed at General Motors for 34 years. Ora loved fishing, feeding the squirrels, cooking and especially barbecuing. He also loved talking to his wife, family and friends for hours. Ora enjoyed taking care of his family; he was a man with a huge heart. He would help anyone without hesitation; he was just a beautiful person inside and out. Mr. Ora “Bill” McMurtrey leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Patricia Ann McMurtrey of Mt. Morris, MI; 4 daughters, Ruthie McMurtrey of Milwaukee, WI, Cynthia Timmons of Mt. Morris, MI, April (Oliver) McGee of Grand Blanc, MI and Anita (Kenneth) Robinson; 2 sons, Seddrick Billingsley of Gary, IN and Anthony (Jeaninne) Timmons of Mt. Morris, MI; 11 grandchildren including special granddaughter, Keanna Wallace; 1 great-great-grandchild; 3 sisters, Florine Henderson of Indianapolis, IN, Lavern Relerford of Merrillville, IN and Betty Rankin of California; 2 brothers, Jimmie and James Releford, both of Merrillville, IN; a host of nieces and nephews including special nephew, Travis Ferguson; a host of aunts including special aunts, Lorene Ferguson and Alice Chapman; a host of uncles; a host of cousins including special cousins, Donnie Althiemer and Shirley Jean Crain; 5 sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Benny Stocker and Samuel Thames. Mr. McMurtrey was preceded in death by his parents, Ora Releford and Molinda Young; aunt and uncle, Edgar (Alice) Chapman. The family would like to express special thanks to daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Kenneth Robinson, granddaughters, Shantique Timmons, Antonae Timmons, Dr. Brian Bhagat, McLaren-Flint 10th Floor staff and McLaren Hospice staff.
