Mrs. Ondria Oree Curry-Jackson

On July 14, 2014 at McLaren – Flint the heavens opened up and God welcomed in Ondria Oree Curry-Jackson. Family hour 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, G-5443 N. Saginaw St. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Bishop Neal Roberson officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Jackson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. The family will be present from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Mrs. Ondria Oree Curry-Jackson was born August 5, 1958 in Flint, Michigan. Ondria was the baby of 4 children born to Martha and Dr. J.C. Curry. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church her entire life. She was a graduate of Flint Central High School and Mott Community College. Her gift was helping and caring for people. As a Registered Nurse for 37 years at Genesys Regional Medical Center, Ondria leaves a legacy of care, compassion and a love for people. She was a quiet soul, with a gentle spirit and a kind and giving heart. Her husband and her family meant everything to her. There was nothing she wouldn't do for those she loved. She loved a good joke and had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved traveling and seeing the world. She was a magnificent cook and baked the best cakes. Her life was filled with joy. Her impact was great and her presence will be greatly missed in the lives of many. Ondria leaves to cherish her memory: her soulmate, best friend, and husband of 34 years, Glen Jackson; son, Todd (Shari) Jackson of Romulus, MI; 3 grandchildren, Todd (TJ) Jackson, II, Madison Ella Grace Jackson, and Dana Robinson; sister, Lou Ella Curry; brother, Josiah (Lawrencene) Curry; 11 nieces, Dawn (Rodney) Jones, Lakisa (Tim) Bush, Keyshawna Haney, and Ariell Jackson, Montoya Curry all of Flint, Tene Jackson of Toledo, OH, Holley Jackson, of Birmingham, AL, Abeni (Reggie) Johnson of Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, Ulanda Gray, Alexia and Aleiya Jackson, all of Atlanta, GA; 6 nephews, Addae (Kim) Olamina and Jordan Jackson both of Flint, Webster Jackson of Columbus, OH, David Jackson, of Southfield, MI, Wade Jackson, Jr. of Tampa, FL, and Tyrone (Jazna) Jackson; 3 great nieces, Courtni Jones and Asprea Griffin, both of Flint, and Ahloni Gray of Atlanta, GA; 5 great nephews, Christian Jones, Josiah Curry Fulgham, and Jaden Beasley Curry, all of Flint, Ahmir Gray, of Atlanta, GA, and Dominic Mark Jackson of Toledo, OH; mother-in-law, Bessie Jackson of Flint; sister-in-law, Gloria Jackson Jenkins of Atlanta, GA; 4 brothers-in-law, Nate (Jonnie) Jackson of Toledo, OH, Wade (Patricia) Jackson and Harlan (Cheryl) Jackson, both of Flint, and Avery (Teddra) Jackson of Atlanta, GA; aunt, Lizzie Neeley of Flint; a host of cousins whom she loved dearly including very special cousins, Dorothy Sanders, Arussel and Mary Curry; god-sons, Elton Lane, Jr., Jamel Horne, Anthony Dover, Jr.; god-daughter, Yolanda Jordan; special friends, Bessie (Mose) Magby, Jackie Fielder, Theresa and Louis Fernandez, Marney McClesky, Ermie Johnson, Marjori Walters, Nellawese Smith; and her coworkers of 4 South at Genesys Regional Medical Center. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Bessie Jackson and Lizzie Neeley, McLaren-Flint ICU Staff, Dr. Joyce Fahrner, Dr. Jagdish Bhagat, Bishop Neal Roberson and the Macedonia M.B. Church family. Ondria will rest in heaven with her parents, Rev. Dr. J.C. and Martha Curry and sister, Patricia Ann Curry Moore.
