Mrs. Novella Whitehead-Ashe

WHITEHEAD-ASHE, Mrs. Novella - age 74, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Genesys Health Park. Family hour 10 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014. at Refuge Temple, 4400 W. Carpenter Rd., Flint Twp., MI, with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Seon F. Thompson officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10 a.m. Thursday. Mrs. Whitehead-Ashe will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Novella Whitehead-Ashe was born October 21, 1939 in Enfield, North Carolina, the daughter of Berry and Melissa Whitehead. Novella grew up in a Baptist Church singing Gospel songs. She attended Refuge Temple Church of Flint, she loved the Lord; one of her favorite scriptures was Psalm 23:4. Mrs. Whitehead-Ashe held several occupations; she became a Modern Dancer, a Dental Lab Technician, attended school for a Nursing Certificate while being a Real Estate Saleswoman and Investor. Novella was also the owner of an Adult Care Facility Home all while taking care of her children and the neighbors children. Her hobbies and interests were gardening, fishing, hunting, studying the Bible, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to dance, sing and help her family. Whenever someone saw her she was smiling. Mrs. Whitehead-Ashe leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Panthier Ashe; son, Yancey (Rochelle) Wilson; 10 granddaughters, JaQuita, Jasmine, Monique, Kamisha, Ricketta, Deanna, Aryandea, Hydia, Keondra and Quanda; 4 grandsons, Ezekiel, Fletcher, Derrick and Tre’Ron; 2 sisters, Lorine Allen of Washington, DC and Betty Wright of Flint; brother, George Whitehead of Enfield, NC; sisters-in-law, Marie Whitehead of Flint, Mary Whitehead of Enfield, NC and Gilli Whitehead of Hampton, VA; 3 step-children, Patricia, Sherlyn and Walter (Denise) Wilson; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, James Wilson and the Wilson family, Willis, Dunn, Wilkerson, Cheatham, Singleton, Strong, Johnson, Chaney, Cooper, Steward, Humphrey, Lay, Martin, Carson, Elzy, Griffin, King, Redwine, Haywood families, Greg Averyhardt, Marilyn Brown, Teresa Allen, Mr. C. Huley, Author Armstrong, Carolyn Heming, Will and Barbara Reid. Mrs. Whitehead-Ashe was preceded in death by: son, Willie I. Ashe; mother, Melissa Whitehead; father, Berry Whitehead; 3 sisters, Florine, Mozella and Rozella Whitehead; 6 brothers, James, Douglas, Ray, Hoover Sr., Berry and Tommy Whitehead; ex-husband, Alvin Ashe.
