Mrs. Nola Mae Jimison

JIMISON, Mrs. Nola Mae - Age 75, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, January 18, 2019 at Foss Avenue Baptist Church 1159 E. Foss Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Rev. Dr. Reginald G. Flynn, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Friday. Mrs. Jimison will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM Thursday. Mrs. Nola M. Jimison was born December 23, 1943 in Porterville, Mississippi, the daughter of Will Ollis Brown and Irene Roberts. She attended Porterville High School in Mississippi but graduated from Spencer High School. After marrying the love of her life they moved from Porterville, MS to Meridian, MS and eventually found their way to Flint, Michigan. Nola began employment at a laundromat before staring employment with Hudson’s (Marshall Field’s) where she worked for 30 years. She was known for being stylish and staying well dressed. Nola accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord & Savior at a young age and attended Foss Avenue Baptist Church where she sang in the Choir for over 40 years. In her pastime she enjoyed playing word games, fishing, singing and gardening, but most of all spending time with her family. Mrs. Nola M. Jimison leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Veronica Bush and Vernessa (Patrick) Ryals, both of Flint; 2 step-sons, James Floyd and Harry Thompson; grandchildren, Quanece, DayQuandra, Kyleah, NyQuanna, MarQuinis, LaQuandrea, TyQuanda, JaCarrah and Layla; great-grandchildren, KaMya, Jaiden, Ny’Jhir, Lauren, Alexander Jr. and one on the way; 3 sisters, Tavie Reed, Pinkie Hamlett and Gwendolyn Ruffin; 3 brothers, Willis T. (Joyce), John (Pearlie) and David Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Jimison was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd W. Jimison; parents, Will Ollis and Irene Roberts Brown; and father-in-law, Walter Jimison. The family would like to express special thanks to Rev. Dr. Reginald G. Flynn and the Foss Avenue Baptist Church family.
