HARRISON, Mr. Nickolas C. - Age 44, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI. family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church 317 E. Hamilton St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Allen C. Overton Sr., officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Harrison will lie in state at Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday, with family present to receive friends from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM. Nickolas Cornell Harrison was born November 10, 1979, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Cornell (Nick) Harrison and Beverly Harrison. He married Yolanda Relerford on July 31, 2010. In this union, they had two sons and a daughter. Nickolas accepted Christ at an early age. He was previously a member of Glad Tidings under the leadership of the late Superintendent Anthony Tolbert and later reunited with Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Allen C. Overton, Sr. Nickolas graduated high school from Southwestern Academy. He earned an Associate Degree in Arts and an Associate Degree in Applied Science with a concentration in Criminal Justice from Mott Community College. Nickolas earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Ferris State University in 2015. After graduating, he worked in the security and automotive manufacturing industries. He later joined the Tom Combs Officer Recruit Training Class on November 3, 2017. At completion, he began employment at Woodland Center Correctional Facility in Whitmore Lake, Michigan, until he became ill in November 2020. He loved his job and took pride in being a corrections officer. He was an inspiration to so many despite his health challenges. He was also an avid fan of Michigan State University athletics. Nickolas loved his boys. Langston and Kingston were his pride and joy. He always told them, “I see greatness in you!” They had a special handshake and saying, “If we’re locked in, ain’t no switching up.” Despite his illness, Nickolas’ most recent accomplishment was walking in the 2023 Crim Festival of Races Michigan Mile on August 17th, 2023. He accomplished the task in fifty-one minutes using his walker and with the aid of his physical therapists. Nickolas leaves to cherish his memory wife, Yolanda Harrison; two sons, Langston and Kingston Harrison; daughter Chloe Wooley of Flint, MI; father, Cornell (Nick) Harrison of Glenn Dale, MD, mother, Beverly Harrison of Flint, MI; sister, Alicia (Edmond) O’Neal and nephew Preston of Fort Wayne, IN; mother-in-law, Judy Relerford; two brothers-in-law, Clayton and Roddray Relerford of Flint, MI; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends. Nickolas was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Barbara Haymer, Willie Mae Harrison, and Dorothy Harrison; grandfathers, John Lee, and Malvern Harrison; great-grandparents, Mildred and Lawyer Johnson; father-in-law, Clayton Relerford.
