Mrs. Nelle Pearl Pinkney

PINKNEY, Mrs. Nelle Pearl - Age 86, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1181 Seymour Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Father Phil Schmitter, officiating. Friends and family will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Wednesday. Mrs. Pinkney will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Tuesday. Mrs. Nelle Pearl Pinkney was born November 15, 1933 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Pearl and Rosa Carpenter. Nelle was resident of Flint and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She attended Clark Elementary School, Whittier Middle School, Flint Technical High School and Flint Junior College. Nelle retired from Ameritech and Hurley Medical Center. She enjoyed traveling, reading and singing in the Church Choir. Nelle loved watching old classic movies and the news, and spending time with friends. Mrs. Nelle Pearl Pinkney leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Leslie Norris of Flint; son, Carl Pinkney (Patty) of Genesee, Twp., MI; grandchildren, Annelle Pearson of Burton, MI, Erik Norris Jr. (Nicole), Gary Lloyd, all of Flint, Cierra Pinkney of Laconia, NH and Christian Pinkney of Genesee Twp., MI; great-grandchildren, DaJana Harrington, Dwayne Harrington II, Elijah Norris, Ali’anna Lloyd, Jordan McMillian, Gary Lloyd Jr. and Jaxon Norris; great-great-grandson, Amir Howard Jr.; 2 nieces, Cydney Taylor (William) and Kathlyn Scott; nephew, Thomas Evans (Pat) of St. Marys, GA; 7 cousins, Evans Davis of Grand Blanc, MI, Linda (William) Harris of Ann Arbor, MI, Hassan (Rodney) Shariff of Humboldt, TX, Norman (Elizabeth) Davis of Lansing, MI, Gertrude Babb (Jim) of New York, Terry Davis of Detroit, MI and Ardelia Davis of Farmington Hills, MI; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Agnes Garrett of Grand Blanc, MI, Betty Harvey, Gwen Allen, Helen Hobson, Connie Dobson, all of Flint and Diane Johnson of Grand Blanc, MI. Mrs. Pinkney was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Rosa Carpenter; sisters, Kizziah and Christine; and brother, Frank.
