Ms. Naomi Hairston

HAIRSTON, Ms. Naomi -Age 77, passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at Heartland Health Care Center-Fostorian in Flushing, MI. Family hour 10:00 a.m. with service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Holy Hill COGIC, 4323 Davison Rd., Burton, MI 48509. Supt. Larry D. Williams officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Ms. Hairston will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Ms. Naomi “Nana” Hairston was born November 26, 1938 in Ararat, Virginia, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Charlie and Nora Hairston. She accepted Christ into her life at any early age, becoming a member at Clark’s Creek Baptist Church. Naomi was a graduate of Patrick Central High School. In 1957, she packed up her belongings and moved to New York for a few years before moving to Flint where she found gainful employment with Flint Truck & Bus, a division of General Motors, and became a member of the UAW Local #598. Naomi was a hard working employee, retiring after 30 years of service. Everyone who knew her considered her a great comedian. She loved to tell jokes and laugh, however, you knew not to get on her bad side. Naomi was a sports fan and enjoyed traveling; taking in new sites. Ms. Naomi “Nana” Hairston leaves to cherish her memory: 2 sons, Shawn (Toni) and Kendrick (Yasmine) Hairston; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Geneva Davis of Flint and Lottie Hairston of Mt. Airy, NC; a host of nieces nephews, other relatives and friends. Ms. Hairston was preceded in death by her 2 sons, Bradley and Keith Hairston; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Charlie and Nora Hairston; sister, Sophonia Graham; 3 brothers, Harvey, Howard and Bernard Hairston; and nephew, William Hairston. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Heartland Manor Fostrian, McLaren – Flint, the staff of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, Supt. Larry D. and First Lady Buna Jean Williams and the Holy Hill C.O.G.I.C. family, and Rev. Dr. Lewis Randolph and the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church family.
