Myrtle Underwood

UNDERWOOD, Mrs. Myrtle - Age 85, passed away Sunday January 30, 2011 at her residence. Family Hour 10 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Civic Heights C.O.G.I.C., 3610 Wisner St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Eld. Samuel Marsh, Sr., officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Thursday. Mrs. Underwood will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. Mrs. Myrtle Underwood was born April 23, 1925 in Bowling Green, Missouri, the daughter of Reverend Martin Luther and Samela Ester Jackson. Myrtle met and married James Underwood to this union 2 children were born daughter, Shari E. Underwood and son, Randall Underwood. She left New Jersey and moved to Flint and began working for Meijers, Inc. for over 10 years. Myrtle loved her family and friends, playing bingo and going on trips. She was loved and cherished by all who knew her. Mrs. Myrtle Underwood leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Shari (John) Larks; son, Randall (Maude) Underwood, Sr.; 5 granddaughters, Tiara (Nicolus) Barber, Zwena (Le’Andrew) Hughes, Marissa Duguns, Chishaunda Calhoun and Kasey White; 4 grandsons, Issa Turner, Randall Underwood II, Raymond Underwood and Mario Duguns; 6 great granddaughters, Kyra Sims, Catera Levy, Nyre, Lacey and Amili Duguns and Jahniece Pippins; 8 great grandsons, Corey Sims, Shamar Lewis, Dominic Hughes, Jeremiah and Demetrius Duguns, Issa Turner, Jr., Taqueyvius Blackmon and Raymond Underwood, Jr.; special niece, Elaine Stokes; sister-in-law, Katherine Jackson; a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Underwood was preceded in death by her granddaughter, KoKona Vaughn; great granddaughter, Ze’ona Burress; parents, Reverend Martin Luther and Samela Jackson; sister, Lottie Willis; and brother. The family would like express special thanks to granddaughter, Zwena Hughes and Tiara Barber, Supt. Samuel Marsh and the Civic Heights COGIC Church family, Dr. Farhan Khan, Avalon Hospice, special friends, Betty, Cookie, Henry, Inez, and Toni (Charles, Jr.) Jones.
