MCNAIR, Mrs. Addie – age 82, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025. Family hour 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Church of Christ North Central, 2001 Saginaw St., with funeral Service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Flint Memorial Park, 9506 N. Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and Pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Wednesday. Mrs. McNair will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Tuesday with family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Homegoing of Addie “Vern” McNair, a devoted wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, friend, mentor, and protector, who peacefully passed from this life, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and unwavering love. Vern was a woman of heart and purpose — bold in her convictions, soft in spirit, and deeply rooted in faith and family. She had a special gift for connecting with young people, often taking them under her wing and offering guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love. Too many, she was a second mother, a trusted confidante, and a safe place in a world that often isn’t. She protected with the same fierce loyalty she showed to those closest to her. Known affectionately as “Mother Goose,” Vern’s protective spirit was legendary. If she loved you, she stood by you always. Vern was a dedicated and faithful worker at General Motors, where she served 21 years until her disability retirement. A proud member of UAW Local #659, Vern valued hard work, unity, and integrity; principles she lived by every day on and off the job. One of the most meaningful moments in Vern’s spiritual journey came on January 9, 2024, when she was baptized into the Lord’s church at North Central Church of Christ. Her faith was a quiet but powerful anchor in her life, and her decision to be baptized was a beautiful testament to her relationship with God. Addie “Vern” McNair leaves behind a circle of family and friends who were forever changed by her love: husband of 54 years, George McNair; 3 sons, George (Kimberly) McNair of Highpoint, NC, Kevin (Michelle) McNair of Burton, MI and Jorell (Marci) McNair of Dearborn, MI; 1 daughter, Latoya McNair of Davison, MI; grandchildren, Kierra (Brandon) Alexander of Jacksonville, FL, Garrin (Anita) McNair of Concord, NC, Tyler McNair of Carey, NC, Ahveonna McNair of Burton, MI, Makyrah McNair of Dallas, TX, Issac Craig of Burton, MI, Makhayla (Brandon) Garcia of Flint, D’Merrius and Sani’ya Carter of Davison, MI and Nakia McNair of Dearborn, MI; 4 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Marilyn Riley, Renee Frazier, both of Jacksonville, FL, Sylvia Allen of Kansas City, MO and Joginna Roberts of Flint; brother, Auluvance Hagan of Little Rock, AR; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; 4 aunts, Geraldine Feaster of Flint, Betty Edmonds of Charlotte, NC, Minnie Huddleston and Virgie Walsh, both of Atlanta, GA; 3 sisters-in-law, Sharon (Derrick) Miller, Deborah (Linston) Johns, both of Flint and Polly Smith of Decatur, MS; brother-in-law, John A. McNair; special niece, Danielle Roberts; bonus sons, Arthur Smith, Duane Johnson and Kyon Horne; bonus daughter, Rhonda (Edgar) Frank; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, The Danou, Bennett and Harden families, and Nina Brown. Vern was preceded in death by her parents, Auluvance Hagen, Maryland Roberts and Joseph Roberts; son, Rodney Hagen; sister, Alberta Hagen; and brother, Larry Hagen; father and mother-in-law, John and Quester McNair. The family would like to express special thanks to Henry Ford Genesys, Nurse Janice, Residential Home Health and Hospice, DaVita Dialysis and North Central Church of Christ family. Laughter, her strength, her faith, and her passion for life will never be forgotten. Though our hearts are heavy, we celebrate the incredible life she lived and the countless ways she made the world a better, kinder place. Rest well, Vern. You were a light in this world — and that light will never go out.
