Mother M. Greenberry

GREENBERRY, Mother Lena M. - Age 80, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Avalon Hospice. Family hour 10:30a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Detroit Street Church of God, G-5328 Detroit St., with funeral service commencing at 11a.m. Bishop Earl Stewart, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, 9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30a.m. Saturday. Mother Greenberry will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2p.m.-8p.m. Friday. Mrs. Lena Mae Greenberry was born June 4, 1931 in Okalona, Arkansas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie and Jessie (Cole) Ross. Lena was educated in Okolona, AR Public School System. She relocated to Blytheville, AR, where she met and married John Alvin Greenberry and to this union one son was born. Lena was a member of Jeremiah Christian Spiritual Temple in Blytheville, AR, where served on the Usher Board. Later the family relocated to Flint, Michigan where Lena worked as a full time Homemaker and became a member of the Detroit Street Church of God, where she served as a member of the Mothers Board. Lena enjoyed working in her flower garden. She leaves to cherish her memory: son, Master Sargeant Johnny L. (Jamie) Greenberry; 2 grandsons, Jeneral and Jerrel; granddaughter, Jahne; great-grandson, Jeneral Greenberry, all of Aurora, CO; 6 sisters, Betty J. Young of Flint, Mildred (Charles) Ford, Lisa Ross, both of Milwaukee, WI, Charlene Harris, Eula B. (Aaron) Howell and Eula M. (Walton) Smith, all of St. Louis, MO; brother, Walter Wiley of St. Louis, MO; 3 sisters-in-law, Cardell (Roosevelt) Gillespie, Mae L. Stringer, both of Blytheville, AR and Edith Greenberry of Palo Hills, IL; brother-in-law, Jimmy Greenberry of Blytheville, AR; special aunt, Birdie M. Ross of Blytheville, AR; a host of nieces including special nieces, Rose Young and Josie Price; a host of nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Greenberry was preceded in death by her husband, John Greenberry; parents, Charlie and Jessie Ross; 3 sisters-in-law, Gora, Rosa and Rosseta; 5 brothers-in-law, Forrest, Clyde, Odell, Wallace and Sterling. The family would like to express special thanks to sister and caregiver, Betty Young, cousin, Elizabeth, Mrs. Dickerson, Sis. Plump, Sis. Williams, Sis. Luster, Avalon Hospice and staff, Briarwood Nursing Home, Davita Dialysis, Dr. Osama and staff, Bishop Earl Stewart and the Detroit Street Church of God Family and the Mother’s Board.
