CALDWELL, Mother Mattie - Age 113, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2011 at North Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1657 E. Broadway. Pastor James O. Flowers, D.D. officiating, also Min. Adrian Davis. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Caldwell will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday. Well here we are in the year of 1898, did you say 1898, yes, no couldn’t be, and we are here at this service on March 2011 must be a mistake, no grand mama, Granny Miss Mattie Mrs Caldwell was born to Robert and Susie Myles on that bright Easter Sunday Morning. What a great day to have this Beautiful Baby girl. The first of six children, lest see there was Duke, Angelo, which we called NED, then came alone Billy, OH his name was Robert, and there was Gearld, and the little girl yes her name was Annie Mae she was my baby sister such a sweet little girl. We had a great childhood in the State of Mississippi. There was lots of love, food and Sunday church, we had fun, worked hard and knew that there must be a better way of life some where up North, So in the early 30’s I thought I would see some of the world and moved to Gary, Indiana. It was a nice town, thats where I met Herbart and we Jumped the Broom, Married you see, he worked on the train; Amtrack that was a good job and I could ride the train with him sometime while he worked. I had only one child a little girl her name was Abi Lena, she was my heart my mom helped me with her. Lena got married and had all of these childrens: there was Pat, (deceased) Willie Paul, (deceased) Robert and his wife Beatrice, Leroy and his wife Marsha, Andrew, Earlie Mae and her husband Elder Samuel Peppers, Richard and wife Gwen (deceased), Earnest and his wife Valoria and Judy and her husband Rodney. Now you see I have all of these Grands, Great Great— Great Great Great, Great Great Great Great Grands FOUR GENERATIONS praise God I am Blessed and Highly Favored of the Lord. I was going to church until I fell and my hip broke, I thank The Good Lord that he Loved me and Let me live. I’ve had a good long life and God is Good and all the time God is Good, Don’t cry for me, you get Ready to Meet your Maker. Love, Grandmama.
