Mr. Morris Vernon Brady Jr.

BRADY, Mr. Morris Vernon Jr. - Age 69, passed away Friday, February 28, 2020 at his residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, March 14, 2020 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Saturday. Mr. Morris will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM with the family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Morris Vernon Brady Jr. was born on June 14, 1950 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Morris Vernon Brady Sr. and Margie (Thomas) Brady. Through the guidance of his parents, he began his walk with Christ at a young age at Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church. Morris was a graduate of Flint Central High School – Class of 1968. He entered the United States Army upon graduation from high school. Morris served two tours in Vietnam. He loved all sports. From soccer to football to his favorite – basketball, Morris loved sports. He was a highly skilled baseball player and loved watching games enthusiastically. Morris served as Vice President to the Flint Chapter of the African American Union Club (AAU). He excelled at many things and brought life and light everywhere he went. Morris enjoyed working with his father throughout the Flint area providing top-rated lawn and landscaping care. Morris loved family. His best friend was his sister, Diane. Morris loved being the big brother to Kenny and Duane. He adored being a grandfather to Christopher, Jeremy, Patrick, Vincent, Isis, Cannon, Farren, Katera, Remington, Saylor, Aiden, Tylan, and Liam. His pride and joy were his children: Vernice, Antwan, Alex, and Brent. Morris had a special bond with his step-daughter Konashia. Being an uncle to Sarah, Oyin, Jaron, Jamar, Marvin, and Derron brought him pride and joy. His cousins were like siblings and best friends. Morris loved his family. He went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 28, 2020 at his residence in Flint, Michigan. Morris was preceded in death by his son, DeAundric “Dee” Collins; parents, Morris Vernon Brady Sr. and Margie Brady; grandparents, Maggie (Ross) and Robert Thomas, Charles and Freddie (Cooke) Brady; uncles, Alfonso Brady, Reuben Thomas, James Thomas, Kyser Thomas, Ivory Thomas and Adale Thomas; aunts, Fannie B. Hood, Roberteen Grey; mother of his child, Audrey Price. Morris Vernon Brady Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Mary Guy-Brady of Flint; daughter, Vernice Brady of Aurora, IL; son, Antwane Holbrook of Flint; daughter, Alexandria Brady of Dallas, TX; son, Morris Vernon Brady III “Brent” of Cheboygan, MI; step-daughter Konashia Guy of Flint; sister, Margie Diane Miles of Inglewood, CA; brothers, Kenneth Brady of Lugano, Switzerland and Duane Brady of Inglewood, CA; Aunt, Shirley Brady of Flint; uncle, Delano Brady of San Francisco, CA; nieces, Sarah (Mads) Haubro of Copenhagen, Denmark and Oyin Battaglia of Zurich, Switzerland; nephews, Jaron Miles of Houston, TX, Jamar Miles of Inglewood, CA, Marvin Martinuzzi of Sydney, Australia and Derron Brady of Las Vegas, NV; 13 grandchildren; a host of cousins including special cousins, Leora Crum, Shirley Hood, Bethany Collins, Charles Collins, James Thomas and Dwight Thomas; mothers of his children, Linda Collins-White, Vanessa Brady, Charlotte Holbrook-Allen and Mary Sohlden; a host of other relatives and friends.
