Miola Shook

SHOOK, Sis. Miola - Age 74, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00am Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 1226 Beach St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00am. Rev. Fred Taylor, officiating. Dr. F.O. Hockenhull,Pastor. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery G-9506 N. Dort Hwy Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church at 10:00am Wednesday. Sis. Miola Shook will lie in state in Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00noon-8pm Tuesday, March 1, 2005. Sis. Miola Shook was born on March 1, 1930 in Centreville, MS to Will and Bertha (Haynes) Jefferson. She was a faithful member of First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church for over 40 years, and while at First Trinity she held several auxiliary positions. Sis. Shook was also a dedicated member of the Golden Circle for five years. Miola Jefferson-Shook attended Finch High School in Centreville, MS. She was Co-owner and operator alongside her husband for 45 years of the Southside Community Store. Her expressions of love, kindness and generosity bloomed throughout the community especially with the children of the neighborhood. Sister Miola Shook leaves to cherish her memory: devoted husband of 45 years J.D. Shook, Jr., and she will always be his girlfriend, sister, wife, and best friend; loving mother to three children, Robert Lee Dunn, Verna Mae Shook, Jacqueline (Kevin) Shook-Hart all of Flint, MI; sister, Lula May Williams; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; special niece,Leanna Coleman; Eight children who will always hold a special place in the Shook family hearts, Dewey, Clarence, Cliff and Chuckie Thompson, Jerry Clark, Greg Harden, Christopher Watson, Stevon Swanigan, and many nieces, nephews, and friends including extended family: parents, Algie and Sarah Oldham; daughter, Charlene Strickland; uncle, Don (Josh) Solomon, extended family brother, James Carter Lewis (Jake); best friends, Dorothy Jimerson and Thelma Williams. Miola Shook was preceded in death by her son, Larry James Dunn; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Will and Bertha Jefferson; brother, Charlie Jefferson (Houston, TX). The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Hurley Medical Center and McLaren Regional Medical Center, Dr. Bruce Baghat, Dr. Marvin Latchana, Dr. Calvin Price, and the Averill St. family.
