Mr. Melvin Lee Carroll

CARROLL, Mr. Melvin Lee - Age 61, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2019 at his residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Monday, August 26, 2019 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Monday. Mr. Carroll will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Sunday. Mr. Melvin Lee Carroll was born December 9, 1957 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Albert Jr. and Hellen Ruth Carroll. Melvin attended Garfield Elementary School, Emerson Jr. School and moved, then graduated from High School in Minneapolis, MN. He later enlisted in the United States Army where he served for a couple of years in Germany and Albuquerque, NM. Melvin was such a sweet and loving soul. He attended Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church while living in Michigan and when he came back to visit. While living in Minnesota, he attended the Salvation Army. Melvin always loved working with his hands, he loved cooking. He thought he was Chef Boyardee. Melvin’s interest included, playing cards, spades and dominoes. He worked various jobs including, sanding floors. Melvin was the family handyman. Mr. Melvin Lee Carroll leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Juanita Carroll of Flint; 3 step-children; sister, Gloria Dean Carroll of Burton, MI; 2 brothers, Charles Earl Carroll and Lewis Edward (Brenda) Carroll, all of Flint; 9 nieces, Sheresa Carroll, Shermaine (Curtis) Lee, Sheretta Carroll, SherQuanda Carroll, Iesha Carroll, all of Flint, Helen Lacy, Tiara Carroll, Quinta and Quinesha Ederington, both or Arkansas; a host of cousins including special cousins, Gretha Cochron, Calvin Carroll and George King; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives including special friend, Phyllis. Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Jr. and Hellen Ruth Carroll; grandparents, Albert and Sally McDoo; sister, Patsy Ruth Banks; brother, Lawrence Edward Carroll; nephew, Mario Carroll; aunts and uncles.
