Ms. Melva Faye Viltz

VITLZ, Mrs. Melva -Age 73, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11:00 AM Monday, September 8, 20225 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 424 Kennelworth Ave., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM, Pastor Jovan Catlett, Host Pastor, Rev. Kenneth Gillard, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 11:00 AM Monday, September 8, 2025. Ms. Viltz will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM. Ms. Melva Faye Viltz was born on September 29, 1951, in Flint, Michigan, the first child of Melvin Viltz and Mary Louise Viltz. She attended Parkland Elementary, Emerson Jr. High and graduated from Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1969.” She attended Mott Community College formally known as Flint Junior College of Flint JC in the 60’s and early 70’s before transferring to Ferris State University. Melva was a member of Stepping Stones and the Organizer of King Daughters & Sons as President. She came out of Ferris State University early. She hired at Kelly Girls Temporary Employment where she was sent to General Motors (SPO) Operations in Swartz Creek, MI in 1972. They responded to her scholastic grade measures and other take-charge leadership abilities and hired her. Having the faith in God and herself she decided to enter the United States Army to gain more into building her administrative career. There she advanced to a E74 combining her talents with the virtue of order. Returning to GM she decided to leave administrative positions in offices and supervise at the plant level. Meeting a motley crew of close and dear friends, even still today. In 1999, she realized that her heart needed more than fairness and order. She then joined the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving n a host of ministries including Sunday School Superintendent, Vacation Bible School, Trustee, Missionary Society and her favorite, Mt. Olive Historian. Here her faith in God grew and her friendship with members on those committees she loved dearly. Melva worked diligently and tirelessly at Mt. Olvie and also at Center Academy as Board Secretary. She has shown to be faithful in her work at GM, at church, her neighborhood she recalled so often. Ms. Melva Faye Viltz leaves to cherish her memory: sister, Deborah S. Viltz; many cousins in Texas including, Randy, Katrina and Terell Hines of Port Arthur, TX ., Marvin and Pam Bell of Milwaukee, WI & sons; many best friends and loving church members. Melva was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Mary Louise Viltz. Ms. Viltz was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army.
