SMITH,Mother Mary - Age 81, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Wellbridge of Grand Blanc. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, September 5, 2025, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Bishop Robert Underwood, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel Friday at 10:00 AM. Mother Smith will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Mother Mary Lee Smith was born May 14, 1944, in Rossville Tennessee, the daughter of Sam & Susie B. (Wallace) Johnson. She was a resident of Flushing Michigan. Mother Smith enjoyed as her Mother did, taking the family to Church. When she resided in Tennessee, she did secretary service at Calvary Life and Praise Church. She moved to Flint and sang in the Choir at Living Word Ministries and served on the Usher Board at Break Through Ministries of Jesus Christ and became their 1st Mother of Church. Mother Smith received her High School Diploma in Rossville, Tennessee. She was employed at General Motors Corporation’s Van Slyke Division where she Retired. Mother enjoyed being with family, going to church, singing, praying, and outings. Mother Mary Lee Smith leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Katherine Smith of Michigan and Angela Smith of Tennessee; grandchildren, Jauan Smith, Johnson Kennedy IV, Shaquille Kennedy, Kawan & TaShaunda Horton, Katrice Horton, all of Michigan, Quanjanika & Gregory Turner, Dequandre Gentry, Dequantae Bell, and Jacob Turner, all of Indiana, Christian I. Smith, Kaleb D. Smith, and Sydeni A. Hamlet of Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Ashan’sti Palmer, Ciceley Kennedy, Kamar’Riona Bailey, Jacobi Latrell Smith, Jauan Smith, Jr. , Kawan Horton Jr. (K.J.), Airrieana El-Amin, Kayaere Doan, Malachi Doan, Johnson Kennedy V, A Mari Kennedy, Skylar Knight, and Aries Kennedy; great-great-grandchild, Yulina Brown; brothers, Earnest Johnson of Michigan and Ezell Johnson of Tennessee; sisters, Lula Bell Lindsey of Tennessee, Hattie Johnson and Nina Johnson, both of Michigan; over 40 nieces and over 40 nephews, all throughout the States Michigan, Tennessee, Missouri, Milwaukee, Florida, and Indiana; over 12 uncles; numerous cousins; god-son Elliott Millington; god-daughters, Wanda Branch, Monique Holden, both of Michigan, Sandra Roland of North Carolina, Dana Skinner of Michigan Raylanda Hudson of Arkansas, Sharonda Mackey, Taneka Walton; mother and father-in-law, William Charles and Susie Mae Smith; grandmother, Sally Quinn; sisters-in-law, Betty (Issac) Smith of Ohio, Dorthy Portwood of Milwaukee, WN, Carolyn (Floyd) Higgs, Ray (Harley) Higgs, and Shirley Barbee of Missouri; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Kelly Henderson, Mary Neighbor, Cousin Jeannie, Annie Holden, Rosetta Spencer, Mother Smith was preceded in death by her, husband James A.
