Mrs. Mary E. Nesby-Green

NESBY-GREEN, Mrs. Mary E. - Age 74, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, March 17, 2017 at Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Road. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home, 1:30 PM Friday. Mrs. Green will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday, with the family present from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Mary Elizabeth Nesby-Green was born October 13, 1942 in Kerrville, Texas, the daughter of Charlie and June Nesby. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Kerrville. Mary was a graduate of Doyle High School and shortly after relocated to Flint, Michigan where she met the love of her life, Clarence Green. She was a former member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.C. Curry. Mary was an avid Bowler, traveling many years and places with her team to The Women’s International Bowling Tournaments. One of her favorite pastimes was crocheting Afghans for family members, friends, and was well known for baking her Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake during the holidays. Her favorite hobbies were shared with her best friend and husband, Clarence. She also enjoyed traveling on long road trips to Texas visiting family and many fishing adventures to Canada as well as many other places. Mary loved spending time with family especially her sister-in-law, Alzora and cousin, Thelma. Mary Elizabeth Nesby-Green leaves to cherish her memory: loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Clarence Green; 3 sons, Rico (Tonae) Campbell of El Nogal, Mexico, Ronald (Selfronette) Green of Flint and Andre Green of Muskegon, MI; 11 grandchildren residing in Flint, Atlanta, GA, Boston, MA and Dallas, TX; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Vera (Michael) Green of Kerrville, TX; a host of nieces and nephews including special nieces, Jamayca Henderson and Arlene “Bootsie” Green; 3 aunts, Roberta Edmond of Kerrville, TX, Bessie Owens and Zula (Levi) Campbell, all of Flint; a host of cousins including special cousin, Thelma Jefferson of Flint; 2 sisters-in-law, Alzora Stokes of Flushing, MI and Rose Green of Tennessee; brother-in-law, Ralph Green of Mobile, AL; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Chenita Holley, Dora Hairston and Todd Thomas. Mary was preceded in death by son, Garland Nesby; 2 step-sons, Eugene and Ralph Green; parents, Charlie and June Nesby; brother, Charlie Nesby II.
