Mrs. Mary Bernice Bell

BELL, Mrs. Mary B. - Age 87, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 at her residence. Family hour 12:30 PM Friday, May 17, 2019 at Refuge Temple Church of Flint, 4400 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 1:00 PM, Pastor Matthew Jackson, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 12:30 PM Friday. Mrs. Bell will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2:00 PM-8:00 PM with family present to receive friends from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM Thursday. Mary Bernice (Clements) Bell was born August 14, 1931 in Lebanon, Kentucky, the daughter of Charles B. and Janie Marie (Porter) Clements. Mary was resident of Flint, Michigan since 1952. She was employed at Fisher Body I and Buick City, divisions of General Motors Corporation and retired in 1989. Mary was a devoted Catholic and attended St. Monica Catholic School and Rosenwald School in Lebanon, KY. Bernice, as she was affectionately called had a passion for cooking and enjoyed having all the family and friends over for dinner. She loved traveling and had a loving personality. Mary opened her heart and home to all. Mary Bernice Bell leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Sharon (Willie) Harris of LaGrange, GA and Marva Bell Thomas of Flint; 3 sons, Arthur (Donald) Clements of San Diego, CA, Ronald Bell (Carolyn Scott) and Donald Bell, all of Flint; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 1 god-granddaughter; 1 god-grandson; 3 sisters, Janet Green, Margaret (Marshall) Robinson, all of El Cajon, CA and Martha Langston of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law, Marjorie Clements of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins including the Porter, Durrett and Clements families; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Phyllis Cole, Denise Green, Josie Clark, Norma Pressley, Dessie Taylor, Carrie Harris and Hudie Langston Jr. Mary was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Clements; grandson, Donald “DB” Bell Jr.; mother, Janie Marie (Porter) Clements; father, Charles B. (Mattie) Clements; sister, Louise (Melvin) Purvis; brothers, Charles R. Clements, James W. (Dolly) Clements and Joseph “Sonny” Clements; nieces, Linda and Deborah Clements; nephews, James “Jimmy” Clements, Charles R. Clements Jr. and Herbert “Gene” Clements; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Bell; and former husband, Robert Lee Bell. The family would like to express special thanks to everyone for their love and support during our time of bereavement.
