Mr. Marval Carter

CARTER, Mr. Marval - Age 67, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Covenant Hospital, Saginaw, MI. Family hour 10:30 AM Monday, December 18, 2023, at Word of Life Christian Church, 460 W. Atherton Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor George Wilkinson, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Monday. Mr. Carter will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Sunday with family present from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM to receive friends. Mr. Marval Carter was born January 16, 1956, in Flint, Michigan to Lynn Carter and Helen Murrill-Carter. He attended Flint Northwestern Community High School before enlisting in the United States Army and serving in Vietnam. He served his country in the Black Lions Infantry before being honorably discharged. He accepted Christ at an early age and was visiting Word of Life Christian Church before his illness no longer allowed him to do so. Mr. Carter worked several jobs in factories and landscaping before becoming disabled. He was “something else'' with his rough exterior and mushy heart. Being in his presence meant that you would most definitely laugh until you cried or cry until you laughed. He had a big personality. Marval loved playing dominoes, watching Bonanza, and listening to his Motown jams. His last days were spent with family and friends close by and his fighting spirit kept him with us until he finally said, “I’m ready to go”. Mr. Marval Carter leaves precious memories and lifelong lessons to: daughter, Connie (Jamar) Baker of Grand Blanc, MI; 3 sons, Marvel (Thunder) Love of Dallas, TX, Mario L. Carter-McClain, and Marvel D. Carter both of Flint, MI; 7 grandchildren, Keevon Love, Aaliyah A. Aarington, Maria Carter, Pervis Givens, William A. Baker, Joseph A. Baker and Londyn F. Baker; 4 great-grandchildren, London Russell, Brooklyn Russell, Kyriee Anderson and Khalil Anderson; 2 sisters, Joann Carter of Flint, MI and Melva Brewer of Arlington, TX; 2 brothers, Lynnell D. “Jet” Carter of Flushing, MI and Bryant K. Carter of Detroit, MI; best friend and brother, Mr. Stan Jackson of Flint, MI; 14 nieces, Helen Carter, Wanita Carter, Lynnette Spears, Lanisha R. Carter, Jaquetta Tyson, Kadeisha Tyson, Shimiya Johnson, Lethia Kelly, Chevella (Darryl) Horton, Myrtle Carter, Michelle Solomon, Natasha Solomon, Cassandra Murrill and Marcella Brewer; 7 nephews, Lonnie Carter, Jamar Carter, Michael Carter, JW Marshall Keel, Bryant A. Love, Johnathan Brewer and Timothy Solomon; several cousins including Jethro (Xantheia) Carter Jr. and Lynwood Rencher; Mothers of his children, Carol Love and Alice McClain and a host of other close relatives and very dear friends. Mr. Carter was preceded in death by parents, Lynn and Helen Carter; son, Kevin Love; grandson, Marion Childs; great grandson, Juanyey “Baby J” Anderson; sisters, Vanessa Carter, Debra Carter, and Jacqueline Solomon; brothers, Michael Carter, Lewis Sheppard, Curtis Sheppard and Marshall Carter; uncles, Felix Rencher, Willie and Jethro Carter; aunts, Mildred Rencher and Barbara; nephews, Marshall Howell, Joseph Spear, and cousin, Van. The family would like to express special thanks to Aleda E.
