Mr. Markus D'Ron Carter

CARTER, Mr. Markus D'Ron - Age 52, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at his residence. Family hour 12:30 PM Thursday, July 3, 2025, at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 1:00 PM Pastor Alfred J. Harris Jr., officiating. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12:30 PM Thursday. Mr. Carter will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday. Markus D’Ron Carter was born July 14, 1972 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Cathay Carter and Mark Haley. Markus was known as D’Ron, Markus at school, Mark on the court and “Ronnie Pooh” to family. He was a resident of Flint and a member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, where he joined as a adolescent. D’Ron was a member of the Kingmen Male Chorus, Armor Bearer for Elder Marqus Harris, along with his walk with Christ. He attended Flint Public Schools, graduating from Flint Northwestern High School where he was on the football team. D’Ron went on to attend Ferris State University. He was employed by Creative Foam in Fenton, MI. D’Ron was on the path of starting his own business named “M3 Restorations” specializing in remodeling rooms and only handy-man related work. His mottos was “I work on People, House & Cars.” D’Ron thought he could fix everything. He enjoyed fishing, grilling, watching football & basketball and was a faithful fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ohio State and Michigan State. D’Ron also enjoyed bowling, especially with D’Merrius and Saniya and he enjoyed bragging on how good they were and that they got it from their daddy, spending time with friend and family was his favorite past-time especially with his grandsons, Rese, Baby Markus and Tariq. D’Ron was blessed with a granddaughter in January, who he looked forward to spoiling. He enjoyed anything competitive. D’Ron met the love of his life 37 years ago on Barks St. where they played together and were later joined in Holy Matrimony on the 4th of July 2013 in Louisville, MS on his grandmother porch. A tradition taken by his mother and aunts. Markus D’Ron Carter leaves to cherish his memory: loving wife of 11 years, Leslie Tate-Carter of Flint; 2 daughters, Journee Carter of Arlington, TX and Sa’Niya Carter of Davison, MI; 2 sons, Markus (Brittany) Carter II of Virginia Beach, VA and D’Merrius Carter of Davison, MI; step-daughter, Tanasia Tate of Flint; 4 grandchildren, Tyrese Crockett of Flint, Markus Carter III of Virginia Beach, VA, Tariq Crockett of Flint and Azariyah Simmons of Davison, MI; parents, Cathay and Johnny Miller; 2 step-sisters, Katrina Evans and Derese Miller; niece, Deshondrena Howard; nephew, Jaquavian Miller; great-niece, Tamia Barnes, all of Flint; 5 aunts; 5 uncles; 14 cousins; mother-in-law, Betty Tate; 5 sisters-in-law, JoAnn Tate, Natasha (Issac) Meeks, Pamela Williams, Kathy Miller, and Meon Stubbs, all of Flint (Eld.
