BROWN, Mrs. Marchel - Age 91, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Henry Ford - Genesys. Family hour 10:30 AM Thursday, June 12, 2025 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 10:00 AM Thursday. Mrs. Brown will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday. Mother Marchel Brown was born November 19, 1933 in Prescott, Arkansas, the daughter of Clifton and Mable James. Mother Brown was a resident of Otisville, Michigan. She was a member of Gospel Temple Missionary Baptist Church. Mother was retired from General Motors Corporation. She enjoyed gardening, organizing family, friends and her community. Mother Brown also enjoyed Easter Egg Hunts, Christmas and Thanksgiving Dinners. She was a God-fearing woman and was very wise and a strong mother to her children as well as to other individual’s children. Mother Brown loved helping others. Her favorite scriptures were Psalms 121 and Galatians 6:9. Mother Marchel Brown leaves to cherish her memory: 5 daughters, Marcella James, Linda (Freddie) Gaddis, Brenda Brown, Talina Brown and Erica Watson; 6 sons, James (Cindy) Brown, Bryant (Rose) Brown, James R. Brown, Lee Artis Brown, Eddie (LaTanya) Brown and Ricky (Becky) Brown; step-daughter, Mary Graham; grandchildren, Robert James, Steven (Denise) James, James M. (Tammy) Brown, Erika Brown, Fallon (LaMont) Johnson, Bryant Brown II, TaMario (Jasmine) Brown, Justin (Menarvia) Gaddis, Jarvis (Brittney) Gaddis, Joseph (Eboni) Gaddis, Latrice Miller, Nathaniel (Jaquandra) Brown, Britany Thomas, Whitney Brown, Alexis Brown, Brandon Brown, Sydnee (Gabe) Carter, Alicia Brown, Ashley Brown, Adrian (Alyssa) Brown, Jameela McCree, DL Graham, Nestle Watson, Yasmine Watson and Lawrence Wright III; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; sister-in-law, Birdie Brown; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, James Edward, Kathleen Davis, and Mildred “Payne” Niles. Mother Brown was preceded in death by her sons, James Clifton Brown, William Frederick Brown and Wayne Bikel Brown; parents, Clifton Sr. and Mable James; brothers, Clifton James Jr. and Clifford James.
