Ms. Luevenia Horton

HORTON, Ms. Luevenia - Age 60, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Monday, November 6, 2023, at Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Charles E. Roots, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Monday. Ms. Horton will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Sunday. Luevenia Horton was born April 17, 1963 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late James Daniel and Hattie Virginia Horton. Luevenia was a City of Flint resident. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church accepting Christ at an early age. Luevenia graduated with honors from Flint Central High School Class of 1981. She played basketball, and was also a cheerleader. Luevenia retired from Daimler Chrysler receiving her certification as an electrician. She loved her family. She truly enjoyed hanging out with her grandchildren, family gatherings and her brother, Lamar. When you saw one, you saw the other (two peas in a pod). Luevenia’s hobbies were playing spades, bid-whist and dominoes. Luevenia was a very loving and kind person. She had a heart of gold. She always had a beautiful smile on her face. Luevenia was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed. She never met a stranger, as a matter of fact, she would give you the shirt off her back. Too us, she just seemed to let nothing bother her. To be honest I can’t remember ever seeing her mad. Our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Ms. Horton leaves to cherish her memory: children, Bianca (Dario) Johnson of Flint, MI and Latanious Horton of Detroit, MI; grandchildren, Aniylah Rufus, Caleigh Rufus, Kamarrionna Durrett, Rashaud Coleman, Jr., Dario Rufus, Jr., Semaj Horton all of Flint, MI, Latanious Horton, Jr. and Tavarious Brewer of Detroit, MI; sister, Gwendolyn Virginia Wheat of Grand Blanc, MI; brothers, Derrick (Baheegha) Horton of Houston, TX and Lamar Horton of Flint, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins including special cousins, Sarah Pearson, Theresa Pearson and Kermit Willis; and a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Moses Johnson of Detroit, MI and David Miller of Flint, MI. Ms. Horton was preceded in death by her son, Rhasid Daniel Hailstock; parents, James Daniel and Hattie Horton; grandparents, Harvey Gladys Pearson and Jule and Mattie Horton; sister, Glenda McQueen; brothers, Bruce Allen Horton, James Henry Horton, Prentice Lamont Horton and Jerome Horton; seven uncles; eight aunts; brothers-in-law, William Calop Wheat and Darry McQueen; and numerous cousins including special cousin, Lawrence Watkins; and best friend, Cathy Irby.
