MILLER, Deacon Lucious Theodore - Age 75, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2026 at his residence. Family hour 11:00 AM Saturday, July 25, 2026, at House Of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM. Pastor DeQuan Ford, officiating. Friends and family will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Saturday. Deacon Miller will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM, with family present 4:00PM - 6:00PM, Friday. Obituary Mr. Lucious Theodore Miller was born was born October 4, 1950, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Phillip D. Miller and Marion Bonner-Miller. Lucious graduated from Flint Central High School in 1969. He attended Mott College where he achieved an Associate Degree in Quality Control. Lucious also studied at Theology School, where he received Word of Life Bible Training in Flint, MI. He was a very out-going person who loved people. Lucious also loved to keep a smile on everyone’s face. He began his career at Comcast; from there he worked at the Mass Transportation Authority (MTA). Lucious was also employed at TRW (formerly Kelsey Hayes) where he retired with 30 years of service. After retirement, he began driving for Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools. Lucious grew up at Greater Holy Temple Church Of God In Christ, from there Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church and from there he joined House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board, Men’s Choir, Deacon Ministry and Seniors On The Move. Lucious was very involved; there was nothing that anyone asked that he wouldn’t do. He valued fellowship, service and sharing his time with others, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. Lucious Miller never met a stranger. Lucious was a devoted husband to Brenda Miller of 51 years. He was also a devoted father and grandfather. He had a unique relationship with all of them. Lucious showed much love and he knew he was loved. His favorite words were, “I’m proud of you,” “snap out of it,” “don’t hurt em,” “you go girl” and “work with it or get on up!” Deacon Lucious Miller leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Brenda Miller; 2 daughters, Christa (Quenland) Jackson and LaShonna (John) Johnson; 5 grandchildren, Brentavia Holmes, Quenishia Jackson, Joshalyn Redmond, Jayla Jackson and A’llyssa Wallace; 4 great-grandchildren, Naomi Holliday, Eden Moorer, Raegan Redmond and Liberty Thomas; 2 sisters, Phyllis Miller of Flint and May Tanner of Lansing, MI; brother, David (Annette) Miller of Baltimore, MD. Lucious was a cherished uncle to a host of nieces and nephews; along with many great-nieces and great-nephews; mother and father-in-law, Barbara (Harold) Franklin of Flint; 10 sisters-in-law, Rosner (Danny) Meekins, Eugenia (Hardy) Wafford, Miranda Blair, Francine Jones, Rose Rouse, Karen Jones, Theresa Jones, Sylvia Jones, Sharon Bowman, Roxanne Bell Miller and Karen (John) Williams; 4 brothers-in-law, Greg Jones, Patrick Jones, Donnie (Shawn) Merriweather and Nathan (Patricia) Settle; god-children, Justin Barron, Bishop Barry (Angela) Chaney, Tamika Williams, Deon Hall and John “Duck” Williams; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Greg Harrison of Flint and the Philadelphia Street family. Deacon Miller was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip D. Miller and Marion Bonner-Miller; brothers, Quinton Miller, Melvin Bonner, Jerry Miller and James Miller; nephew, Terry Settle.
