HARRIS, Mrs. Louise - Age 77, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Greater Galilee Baptist Church, 4418 Industrial Ave., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon, Pastor Latrelle Holmes, Sr., officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Harris will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Louise Harris was born February 22, 1937 in LaGrange, Georgia, the daughter of George and Maggie Davis. She was a resident of Flint and a member of Greater Galilee Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board and always helped the Kitchen Committee; Mrs. Harris was famous for her macaroni & cheese and sweet potato pies. She previously worked at Fisher Body, Genesee Coverall, McLaren Regional Medical Center and for the Beecher School District. Louise also volunteered at GCCAA for many years. She loved her grandchildren dearly. Mrs. Harris also loved cooking and playing cards with her family and friends. She was the backbone of the family and helped raise many of her nieces and nephews. Mrs. Louise Harris leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Elbert Harris, Jr.; 5 daughters, Sabrina Jones, Marilyn (Ray) Bryson, Betty Harris, Evelyn Harris and Karen Dixon; son, Willie Davis, all of Flint; stepdaughter, Doris Moore of Detroit, MI; grandchildren, Monrey Harris of Flint, Janavus (Nina) Davis of Houston, TX, Bennie Bennett II, Shiri Cotton, Tiffany (Sam) Cole, Ashley Harris, Cameron and Nakia Watkins, Chester Ward III, Briana, Jalen and Taylor Jones, all of Flint, Lamar Dixon of Quincy, FL and Nicholas Moore of Detroit, MI; great-grandchildren, Maycen Bennett, India Harris, Tiara Langley, Samaya and Sam Cole IV, all of Flint, Arrianna Davis of Phoenix, AZ, Makayla, Kaylan and Jaylin Davis, all of Houston, TX; brother, W.C. Gates of Flint; sisters-in-law, Queenie Milon of Elizabethtown, KY, Bessie (L.C.) Stewart of Flint, Mable Harris of Cantonment, FL and Jessie Harris of Pensacola, FL; a host of other relatives and friends including special sister, Patricia Hitchye, Irene Burns and son-in-law, Larry Jones. Mrs. Louise Harris was preceded in death by her parents, George and Maggie Davis; sister, Marie Parks; brother, George Davis; aunt, Katie Nelson; cousin, Ethel Hill; sister-in-law, Mabel Davis and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
