Ms. Lorraine Tipton

TIPTON, Ms. Lorraine - Age 68, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Faith United Methodist Church, 2266 W. Coldwater Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12 noon. Pastor Monique Turner Host Pastor, Pastor Seldon Williams, Jr. officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Saturday. Ms. Tipton will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Ms. Lorraine Tipton was born December 3, 1945 in Covington, Tennessee, the daughter of Eugene and Eliza (Fields) Moore Sr. Lorraine graduated from Proviso East High School in 1963. She previously was a member of King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board, played the piano and sung in the Choir. Lorraine rededicated her life to Christ after having a conversation with her nephew Ronnie. “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one come to the Father except through me.”-John 14:6 She was a devoted mother, amazing grandmother, loyal sister, loving aunt and a dedicated friend to many. Lorraine looked forward to the Moore/Fields family reunions and was the life of the party. She enjoyed cooking holiday meals for her family. Her fried chicken wings were the best, hands down. Lorraine was an unselfish lady with a big heart who didn’t bit her tongue. She retired from Buick Motor Division with over 30 years of service. Ms. Lorraine Tipton leaves to cherish her memory: loving sons, Walter (Sheronda) and Rodney Tipton; 4 grandchildren, her “Little Darling Ametra”, Tynae, Walter III and Tony; 2 sisters, Ever Jean Thornton and Cora (Theoda) Dunn; 3 brothers, Robert (Stella), Napolean and Lawrence Wayne (Virdean) Moore; a host of nieces, nephews including very special nieces and caregivers, Cleo Flourney, Shelia and Arthur Hubbard and Shenita Ester; special nephew, The Garrie; special friends, Gertrude Clemens, who was like a sister, Wil and Dot Badon, Corine Sturgill, Angela Flowers, Trina Teverbaugh and the many other Kennedy Estates neighbors. Ms. Tipton was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Eliza Moore; 4 brothers; and 4 sisters.
