Mrs. Loretta Carr

CARR, Mrs. Loretta - Age 74, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at McLaren-Flint. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home, 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Loretta Fae Howard-Carr was born April 29, 1947 in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of the late Robert Howard and Dorothy Brown Howard Chilton. She was the 1st born of 3 siblings, Loretta, Dorothy Jean and Jimmie Howard. Loretta accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Mt. Morris schools graduating from E.A. Johnson High School. This was when she met Edward Carr Sr. and the romance took off. While married, she attended Michigan School of Cosmetology. Afterwards she worked for Bill’s Wig Barn where she acquired several clients. Loretta was an awesome seamstress from the teachings of her mother, on top of being a mother. She joined the work force in 1983 and gave 20 years of service to Genesee County Community Mental Health where she retired. Loretta was a beautiful spirit, she loved all of her beautiful children and was well respected by her peers, family and friends. She loved to sing and dance, her special song was Betty Wright’s, “Tonight Is The Night.” Her teachings will be etched in the hearts of all whose lives she touched. Mrs. Loretta Fae Howard-Carr leaves to cherish her memory: her Queens, Lavetta Faye Carr-Phillips, Sabrina (Lester) Carr-Buckley and Sharela Carr-Turner; her only born King-Sultan, Edward (Sharika) Carr Jr.; grandchildren, Kings, Jovohn Carr, Leondre Carr, Rashad Seals, Edward Carr III and Robert L. Carr; Princesses, Shanel Williams, Laneya Seals, Erin Carr and Jah’zaria Turner; 10 great-grandchildren, Azaria and Zakeer Fitzpatrick, Kyndall and Kamora Seals, Zahara, ZaNyia and JoVohn Carr Jr., Kennedy, Jordan and Jaylen Williams; 2 adopted daughters, Cindy Lawrence and Jacqueline Norris; 2 sisters, Dorothy Mullins and Linda Chilton; daughter-in-law, Teresa Carr; god-sisters, Alicia Davis and Shantel McWilliams; a host of nephews including special nephews, Aaron Mullins, Eric Carr and Jamal Chilton; a host of nieces including special nieces, Serena Carr, Lanona Chilton and Latoya Chilton; great-uncles, JB (Connie) Brown, Jim (Robbie) Sullivan and William “Billy” Brown; great-aunts, Collistine Evans, Shirley Saunders, Charliemae Howard of Portland, OR; a host of other relatives and friends that go unmentioned, blame it on our memory and not our heart. Mrs. Howard-Carr was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Carr Sr.; parents, Robert Howard and Dorothy Brown Howard Chilton; step-father, John Henry Chilton; step-mother, Mary Howard; brothers, Jimmy Howard and William Evans; son-in-law, Richard A. Turner; grandparents, a host of nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center, McLaren-Flint and nurses, Lisa and Ivan.
