Mrs. Linda Patricia Macon

MACON, Mrs. Linda P. -Age 73, passed away Saturday August 26, 2023, at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Greater New Bethel Church of God In Christ, 925 W. Atherton Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Brian W. Grundy, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4433 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Macon will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday. Ms. Linda Patricia Macon was born on September 13, 1949, but due to a delay in her birth certificate, her birthday was legally registered on September 18, 1949. Linda was born a twin, the daughter of Andrew and Nellie R. Houston. The family moved to Flint, Michigan when she was an infant. She accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Linda graduated from Flint Northwestern High School. She also graduated with an Associate Degree from Baker College. Linda worked for a couple years at Martin Elementary School where her children attended school. Linda loved watching her favorite shows on television. She enjoyed playing her games on her tablet, listening to her gospel music and the Temptations oldie’s but goodies. Linda was a very independent person, that stayed to herself. She was always a sweet person, but very firm. Linda didn't have a problem saying how she felt. Ms. Linda Patricia Macon leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Katrina Houston of Conway, AR; 4 sons, Jaron (Marvetria) Houston Sr. of Flint, DeWayne Macon, Andrew Houston and Daron (Whitley) Houston, all of Conway, AR; grandchildren, DeWayne Jr., Khalil, Jamekah, Maria, Dallas, Corey, Tiffany, Joshua, Samuel Jr., Porsha, Brianna, Kevin, Andiyahna, Andrico, Jaylen, Jaron Jr., Jaydah, Jaylah, Jaa’liyah, Daron Jr., Jonathan, Zyon and Zyhir; 13 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Annie Dixon, Debra Coleman of Georgia, Melanie Houston, Tracey Houston and Mariam Houston; 4 brothers, Mitchell and Jerry Houston, both of Flint, Mark and Travis Houston, both of Newnan, GA; aunt, Everlene Moreland; a host of nieces and nephews including special niece, Gina Dixon and special nephew, Darnell Houston, both of Flint; a host of cousins including special cousin, Tina Moreland of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends. Ms. Macon was preceded in death by her mother, Nellie R. Houston; father, Andrew Houston; twin sister, Brinda Houston; sister, Gail Houston; brothers, James Houston, Morris Houston and Bruce Houston; uncle, Doran Moreland; and cousin, Sheena Smith. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center staff and Promedia Hospice Care, special nurses, Anesha and Heather; and her nephew, Deshun Dixon.
