LEVERETTE, Mrs. Lillie Mae - Age 76, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Charles Roots, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday, March 8, 2025. Mrs. Leverette will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Friday, March 7, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM with family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Mrs. Lillie Mae Leverette was born December 29, 1948 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, the daughter of Cora and Lee Sturdivant. Lillie accepted Christ into her life at an early age. She moved to Flint, Michigan in the 1970’s where she became a member of Canaan Baptist Church. Lillie retired from Genesys Hospital in 2009. She loved being among family and friends, working in the yard with her flowers, cooking and baking for everyone. Lillie was very talkative, just like her husband, Joe. She was always loving, kind and friendly to others. Lillie truly enjoyed spending time with the ones she loved, especially her grandkids. Her husband gave her the nickname, “Lil” and her niece, Shon gave her the nickname “Everette”. Her love language was sharing her magnificent cooking such as, greens, banana pudding and lemon cake. Her special favorite from her grandchildren was sweet potato pies and she even made 10 pies for her great-granddaughter, Amiyah. Mrs. Lillie Mae Leverette leaves to cherish her memory: 6 daughters and sons, Shirley Claybrook of Flint Township, MI, Sabrina Willis of Michigan, Alisha (Stanley) Williams of Flint, Angela (Emmanuel) Hall of Ohio, Gregory (Alisha) Leverette of Grand Blanc, MI and Joey Leverette of Flint; grandchildren, Steven (Angel) Claybrook of Flint Township, MI and Chane’l Leverette of Flint, MI; great-grandchildren, Camren, Amiyah, Shanese, Steven and Austin Claybrook; 2 sisters, Brenda Thomas and Lisa Sturdivant; 3 brothers, Lee (Mike) Sturdivant, Nathaniel Sturdivant and Nathan Sturdivant, all of Grand Rapids, MI; a host of nieces including special niece, Jackie Claybrook of Grand Rapids, MI; a host of nephews including special nephews, Anthony (Portia) Claybrook and Maxie (Jennifer) McDonald all of Grand Rapids, MI; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Idella Walker (dependable friends who was always there). Mrs. Leverette was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Leverette; parents, Cora and Lee Sturdivant; parents-in-law, Otha and Hannah Leverette; grandparents, Willie and Georgia Claybrook; sisters, Mary Ann Winfield, Shirley Sturdivant and Yvonne Sturdivant; aunt, Willean Claybrook; and uncle, Willie George Claybrook.
