Lee Murphy

MURPHY, Mother Lee Bertha - Age 83, was promoted from kingdom work to heavenly reward, Saturday, June 26, 2010. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 at New Creation Church of God, G-3472 Lennon Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m., Apostle Ruby Johnson officiating, Dr. Herbert Banks, Host Pastor. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mother Murphy will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Friday. Mother Murphy was born January 18, 1927, in Reader, Arkansas; the daughter of Hesley and Willie Mae Gulley. She was a resident of Flushing, Michigan. Mother Murphy was a faithful member of New Generation Holiness Center Church International, where she taught Sunday School. She was a loving caring person who worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Flint Osteopathic Hospital (FOH) for 23 years. She also owned and operated an Adult Foster Care Home for more than 30 years. Mother Murphy enjoyed singing, bible study, teaching God’s Word, cooking and entertaining family and friends. Mother Murphy gave birth to 6 children but mothered many others everywhere she went. She was the epitome of motherhood. Mother Murphy leaves to cherish her sweet memory: 2 daughters, Linda Butler of Flushing, MI and Geraldine Welch of Muskegon, MI; 2 sons, Frank (Denetria) James of Bristol, TN and Rodney (Alexis) Murphy of Flint Township, MI; 15 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; 2 brothers, Silas (Sally) Gulley of Sacramento, CA and Hesley Lee Gulley of Los Angeles, CA; 2 nieces; 2 nephews; sister-in-law, Trudy Brown, of Rockford, IL; and a host of other relatives and special friends. Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Murphy; sons, Phillip Thomas and Audie Lewis Murphy; and parents Hesley and Willie Mae Gulley. The Murphy family would like to express special thanks to Apostle Ruby Johnson and the New Generation Holiness Center Church International Family and Pastor Larry A. Holley and the Abundant Life Ministries International Church Family. The family would also like to thank the church families of Champions for Christ Ministries and Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Additionally special thanks to her many neighbors in Innisbrook subdivision. Further heartfelt gratitude is expressed to Pastor Herbert Banks and the New Creation Church Family for hosting the home going celebration of Mother Lee Bertha Murphy.
